Must-Try Vegan Options Around Town

Because they are serving masses of visitors during the busy summer months, it’s not surprising to find something for everyone, including vegans, at many restaurants in Jackson Hole. Especially in summertime, bright and robust salads are on nearly every menu, and most kitchens are happy to make swaps to ensure vegetarian dishes are free from dairy and egg for vegans.

However, there are a handful of spots in town that are worth visiting if you’re looking for intentionally vegan food in Jackson Hole:

Healthy Being Cafe & Juicery

Falafel please! From Healthy Being Juicery & Cafe.

The handful of items on the menu at Healthy Being Cafe & Juicery that aren’t already vegan, can be made so by request here. This organic and locally-focused eatery is highly plant-focused. Start your day with a cold-pressed juice and one of the cafe’s vegan toast: Argentinian-style (with herbed cashew cheese, chimichurri, and carrot-cabbage slaw), caprese (with herb cashew cheese, slow-roasted tomatoes, basil almond pesto, drizzled with aged balsamic), or classic avocado (with everything spice and Meyer lemon olive oil). Refuel at lunchtime with a hearty salad or grain bowl, all sans animal products.

Figs

Many traditional Lebanese dishes are inherently vegan, so the hardest part of eating at Figs in downtown’s Hotel Jackson is deciding which delicious options to pick. Stuffed grape leaves stewed in tomato broth, garlicky baba ganoush, flaky and rich spinach pie, grilled vegetable skewers – the list is extensive and inviting. Of course, don’t overlook the traditional hummus served with warm, house-made pita.

Gather

Gather

The mouthwatering vegan options on the menu at Gather are so tantalizing, even non-vegans will be tempted to dig in. Start with the French onion dip, crafted with caramelized onion and cashew cheese and served with a 460 Baguette for mopping up every last bit. For an entree, don’t miss the sweet corn curry, featuring udon noodles, roasted broccolini, roasted mushrooms, sautéed carrots, peppers and corn in perfectly sweet coconut milk, topped with scallion, jalapeño and grilled lime.

HandFire Pizza

Hand Fire Pizza

There’s no need to skip pizza night just because meat and cheese aren’t on your personal menu. Hand Fire Pizza offers the delectable Tomato Tomato pie, topped with vegan mozzarella, pesto, heirloom tomato, caramelized onion and spicy dried tomato. The organic mixed salad and hummus plate are also excellent vegan-friendly choices!

Inversion Cafe

Inversion Cafe

Whether you’re recovering from a stellar workout in one of Inversion’s classes or just want something refreshing to fuel your Jackson adventures, Inversion Cafe has great vegan options for smoothies, bowls and bites. Try the protein and berries smoothie to get a delicious burst of antioxidants and plant-based protein: it’s made with strawberries, blueberries, cashews, pea or hemp protein powder, Maqui, acai and hemp seeds.

Teton Thai

Teton Thai

Delivering a taste of Bangkok to Jackson Hole, Teton Thai offers a variety of menu options that are available vegan. From starters – like fried tofu, fresh salad rolls and stir-fried green beans – to hearty noodle and curry dishes, plenty of options await meat-fee diners. Any of the eatery’s classic noodles can be made vegan: pad kee mao, pad see ew, pad woon sen or pad Thai. Plentiful rice dishes are similarly available, featuring veggies, cashews, pineapple and other classic flavors.

Melissa Thomasma

In full rebellion against the unpredictable climate of the Rocky Mountains, you can find Melissa on her Teton Valley deck grilling any month of the year. Typically in flip flops. Snow, rain, wind… no weather is too fierce. She’s a lover of peaches in any form, has a borderline addiction to arugula, and (strangely) has been known to drizzle soy sauce on pizza. But even more than she loves her stand mixer and cast iron collection, she adores cooking for her husband and two kids. When this Jackson Hole native isn’t scurrying around her messy kitchen, she’s probably outside floating the river, hiking, camping, fishing, or, well… grilling.
