Being indecisive is not a quality that I am proud of. It usually stems from me being ok with all the options at hand rather than just trying to be a crowd pleaser. While this might be the case, when I am part of a group trying to make a decision and someone says “I don’t care” or “whatever you want” there is a part of me that makes me want to slap them. You could call me a self-loathing, wishy-washy type personality.
It is rare that I get to relish my lack of decisiveness, but it turns out that many people, especially those who enjoy food and drinks as much as I do, have embraced that same noncommittal attitude. Flights of food, wine and drinks are becoming an increasingly popular form of trying as much as possible in one sitting without having to pile all your chips into one dish. There are quite a few places in Jackson with options that allow you to indulge your tastebuds in a variety of options, Dishing is here to help point you in the right direction for those struggling to make a decision.

Beer flight from Snake River Brewing
Snake River Brewing: In the world of craft breweries, the tasting tray or beer flight, has to reign supreme. Investing 16 ounces in one beer is a big commitment. It is advised that if you are unfamiliar with the brewery, try a little taste of each before you make your decision. Flights include eight 5-ounce beers and are $16. If you are hungry and can’t make up your mind, check out their sausage sampler. A flight in its own right, it features three different types of homemade links with delicious accouterments
Local: If whiskey is your thing, then this has to be the best flight selection out there. Choose from seven, thats right seven, different flights of whiskey ranging from Wyoming to bourbon to rye. They have a selection to wet anyones whistle. Each flight includes 3, one-once pours and ranges in price from $20 to $44.

Tequila flight at Hatch
Hatch: While Local has the whiskey market on lockdown, Hatch is the place to satisfy your tequila fix. They feature eight different flights by brand (one pour of a blanco, resposado and anjeo), four different flights based on style including mezcal, and even a flight of infused tequilas. Flights range from $14 to $30 and can be customized to your preference.
Bin 22: I am using the word flight a little liberally for this one. Although there is a large selection of mix and match meats and cheeses, you still have to pick them. It is for that reason I recommend just getting them all, that way you know you are not missing out. Featuring a rotating menu of charcuterie and imported cheeses, Bin 22 is the perfect place to craft your own appetizer flight. In addition to Bin, there are plenty of other local restaurant that feature their own hand crafted charcuterie. Check out Westbank Grill if you are in the village. If you are looking for some other options around town, Gather, Haydens Post, Local, and Spur all have some great meat and cheese options.

Try a dozen oysters of your choosing at Rendezvous Bistro
Rendezvous Bistro: Any opportunity for indecision has to be recognized, and while not officially advertised as a flight, the Bistro’s oyster selection is prime for sampling. Enjoy a dozen oysters from their raw bar mixed and matched to your choosing. With three to four options usually available, there are plenty for you to choose from. If you aren’t the half shell type check out one, or all of the oyster shooters, red, green, or Bloody Mary.
Q Roadhouse: This Westbank favorite not only has great food, but an amazing beer menu thanks to Roadhouse Brewing. Their varied brew selection features a range of styles. Order a tasting flight to sample a few of their selections like their Stone Fruit Saison or Mango Kettle Sour. Flights starting at $10 for 4 tasting pours
Thai Me Up: If you haven’t been to Thai Me Up in a while, you might want to opt for a beer sampler next time you go in. With their new brew facility in Alpine in full swing, they are now pumping out more of their beers than ever. With so many on tap these days you might need a second one to make a final decision on a pint.
