Lunch Time: Counter Style on the West Bank Edition

Got the lunch time hunger pains and you are on the West Bank? We’ve all been there, and we’ve got some ideas for a quick lunch next time hunger strikes: Aspens Market and Sidecar in Basecamp offer lunch counter options for everyone!

Aspens Market

Chef Matty Sales and team have curated both grain and salad bowls with a build your own creation option, in addition to their hot sandwich menu. Using high-end ingredients and with plenty of protein add ons, these bowls will cure the mid-day hungries!

Need suggestions? We got you! From their set menu, the Grand Prismatic is their take on a Greek salad with Israeli couscous, veggies, falafel and a tzatziki sauce that you’ll be wanting seconds of. Craving steak? The Pass Lap with Snake River Farms chimichurri skirt steak, fried Brussels sprouts and gochujang sauce is hearty, but still feels light (no after lunch nap needed!). For those who are vegetarian and/or gluten free, the Cache Creek bowl is super tasty with sweet tamari tofu over rice noodles and tons of veggies, topped with a toasted sesame dressing.

Looking for a more personalized experience? You can build-your-own salad or grain bowl using their select and circle menu. Choose from an array of greens, grains, veggie and protein choices based on whatever you’re craving. Pro Tip: get the falafel! It makes a cold salad feel extra elevated with something hot and crispy on top!

The made-to-order deli is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and those in need of lunch can order online or at the counter. Premade meal options are always available in the deli section for a quick grab and go experience (the Rendezvous Salmon premade bowl is delicious!). And, if you have time to kick it at the picnic tables with your lunch, go back to their counter after, and treat yourself to a soft serve cone. Grab and go breakfast selections and drip coffee are also available pre-lunch service.

Sidecar in Basecamp

The lunch counter at Sidecar in Basecamp in Wilson, is a menu we’ve been trying to get through all summer… everything is that good!

For the early risers, Sidecar offers grab-and-go breakfast and barista style coffee service, with espresso and lattes available to order from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Drip coffee is also ready for those who want to be quick and fill up their mugs before a long day. Their grab-and-go meat or veggie breakfast burritos are made fresh each morning, and their blueberry muffins are the size of your fist and are a steal at $3.50 each. Their chocolate chip cookies are also not to be missed, the size of a salad plate, and super ooey and gooey for the same price.

Made-to-order lunch starts at 11 a.m., and Sidecar’s menu boasts six sandwiches, two salad offerings, along with sides and soups. you can’t go wrong with whatever calls to you. We could eat there Monday through Friday and be totally satisfied and looking forward to the next week of the same. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if we must, the Cubano with a side of the truffled fries (tossed in parm and herbs), is the perfect reward after a long bike ride or hike on Teton Pass. For those wanting something a little lighter, the spring salad has all the crunch and flavor one craves a salad. Gluten free? No problem, sandwiches can be ordered on a gluten free bun. Order at the counter or online.

If you’re not on-the-go, the picnic tables that line Fish Creek outside are a lovely setting to graze and soak up some rays. Often, Chef Tim Conan and team fire up the smoker for the full not-your-backyard-barbecue experience. Follow @sidecarwilson on Instagram for up-to-date specials and barbecue announcements. If you are in a rush, the grab-and-go hot sandwich options (get the fried chicken) and deli fridge with pasta salad, chicken salad, chorizo pimento, parfaits and salad options are affordable and yummy. Once you try something, you’ll often find yourself stopping in to add some special items to your fridge each time you’re in the Wilson area.

Not to be forgotten, the sloshie selection also gets happy hour started and can be ordered up until 6 p.m. Pro Tip: go with a friend, get sloshies or pick your poison from Basecamp’s wide selection of wine and beers. Grab a pimento dip and crackers for a chill and off the beaten path happy hour experience.

Looking for a sit-down experience? Sidewinders West and Nora’s each have a full dining room with table service and serve lunch daily. Stay tuned for a deep dive into their lunch offerings soon!
