Nestled at the base of Teton Pass, in Wilson, Wyoming, Nora’s Fish Creek Inn has long been beloved by locals and visitors looking for the comfort that only homestyle cooking in a log cabin setting can provide. From fluffy pancakes to their famous huevos rancheros, the rustic charm of the establishment has always resonated most wholeheartedly through its breakfast options.
Now, as the future of Nora’s comes into focus, it will include the return of dinner dining, a full espresso bar, increased lunch offerings and an outdoor addition.
Established in 1982, Nora’s had stood the test of time, cementing itself as a dining institution in the area. Then, late last year, the family-owned restaurant changed ownership, when local business owners Tom Fay and Eddie Opler, of Pinky G’s Pizzeria and JD High Country Outfitters respectively, purchased the business. Former owner Kathryn Taylor only agreed to sell the business to the pair upon their promise to keep Nora’s “Nora’s”. As such, the changes that are now coming to fruition are destined to accentuate what patrons already love about Nora’s Homestyle Kitchen & Bar.
“Change is hard,” admits marketing manager Christian Riley, “but these changes are incredible while keeping the soul of Nora’s exactly the same.” Given the reputation Nora’s has for its breakfast, the team has found ways to incorporate elements of that menu into the new dinner menu. For example, fans of the huevos rancheros will notice a pork chop served during dinner that’s topped with the same green chile salsa. On the dessert menu, a banana bread sundae is a nod to the banana bread French toast served earlier in the day (and featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives).
Diners at Nora’s have come to expect mouthwatering homestyle cooking that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. And such is the case with the new dinner menu—the prime rib is certain to be a hit, while the restaurant’s smoker can be credited for the addition of smoked chicken wings and Cornish game hen. On the lighter side, chicken fried tofu steaks make for a great vegetarian and gluten-free option. Actually, many of the items on the evening menu are gluten-free (and labeled as such).
Passersby will have already noticed that now, a new outdoor patio features picnic tables, a bar area and hanging flower baskets. Riley says that although they don’t anticipate offering fully serviced deck dining, the outdoor area is a great place to enjoy a to-go order or sip on a sloshie when the weather allows.
Going forward, Nora’s will offer breakfast daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the lunch menu available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner is from 5 to 9 p.m. For those looking for breakfast on the go, a new grab-and-go window on the building allows for a convenient breakfast order (while supplies last) or espresso drink.
“We want you to go to Nora’s and feel like you’re at home,” Riley says. “We’re trying to provide our community with an affordable, comfortable place to bring family or friends, where everyone feels like family.” With your dining curiosity now thoroughly peaked, Nora’s invites you to experience the flavors and hospitality that have made them a local legend, morning, noon and night.
