If you’ve looked for a bag of Jackson Hole Chip Company chips lately and come up empty, there’s good news: They’re working their way back.
The original plan called for a summer return. In a July 30 update, the company acknowledged that the timeline had slipped, but said it now expects to bring the chips back this fall or winter. And honestly, we’re confident that our patience will be worth it.

That extra time has gone toward reworking the chips themselves. The new version will cook in 100% avocado oil and come in a larger bag. The company promises the same bold flavor, now with better ingredients and a more refined production process.
How Jackson Hole Got Its Own Chip
The story begins with founder Cooper Kahlenberg, who moved to Jackson Hole in 2007. He expected to spend a few years here riding and then move on. As often happens in this valley, a few years quietly became a life.
In 2020, Kahlenberg launched Jackson Hole Chip Company. He wanted to make a natural, small-batch potato chip with plenty of crunch and enough personality to hold its own in the local snack aisle. Historically, the lineup included six flavors. Sea salt, barbecue and salt and vinegar covered the classics. Jalapeño cheddar, truffle butter and Funk brought a little more swagger. Funk, for the uninitiated, offered a tangier and tarter take on barbecue.

The chips developed an enthusiastic local following, especially among people who take their sandwich accompaniments and dip vehicles quite seriously.
What to Expect From the New Chips
The switch to avocado oil marks the biggest change. Jackson Hole Chip Company describes the forthcoming recipe as an all-natural update made with better ingredients. The bags will also be bigger, which should please anyone who has ever opened one with the intention of eating “just a few.”
The company has not announced which flavors will return first. We’re hoping to see the full lineup again, but truffle butter fans may want to hold their celebrations until we know more.

Where Will They Be Available?
This is the part where we would love to hand you a confirmed shopping list. Unfortunately, it’s still a little early.
Before the production pause, local shoppers could find Jackson Hole Chip Company chips at retailers such as Jackson Hole Marketplace and Hungry Jack’s General Store in Wilson. Made Jackson Hole also carried the chips online.
Those locations give us an idea of where the chips may return, but the company has not confirmed its full new retail lineup. For now, we’ll practice patience—and perhaps clear a little extra room in the pantry.
