Get Your Grill On

There’s a little over two months left of Jackson Whole Grocer‘s Grill Series, and you don’t want to miss it! Since mid-June, the Whole Grocer grill’s been sizzling up some of Jackson’s finest meat, poultry and seafood for just $5!

According to the Whole Grocer’s meat and seafood manager, Justin Shepler, he originated the grill series out of a passion for sharing food.

“It was more of a way to have people try new things, sample things from our department that they may not have wanted to try or were too hesitant to try, so I just put those things into our barbecue season,”

-Justin Shepler

The grill-out takes place every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Shepler’s advice is to follow your nose to the best deal in Jackson.

“It’s really not a money-making event,” he said. “It’s more to just break even and give people a good experience.”

Here are Shepler’s top grilling tips:

  1. Start with a clean grill
  2. Oil the grill lightly two minutes before placing food down
  3. Don’t move the food around
  4. Don’t squeeze or flatten meats
  5. Keep a spray bottle handy for flare-ups
  6. Buy a meat thermometer for a perfect internal temperature
  7. Avoid putting cold foods straight on the grill
  8. Check the local Health Department site for desired cooking temperatures for different proteins

Today the Whole Grocer will be serving sesame noodles and garlic chicken kabobs. For the full schedule, click here.
