Jackson is a little sweeter with the addition of Cream + Sugar’s The Scoop Shop, right next to sister restaurant Roadhouse.
After years of successfully selling ice cream and ice cream sandwiches in retail locations all over the country, Fine Dining Restaurant Group has finally opened a Cream + Sugar retail outlet, The Scoop Shop, on Jackson’s Town Square. Located next to Roadhouse Pub & Eatery, the ice cream store is bringing some serious flavor to the boardwalk!
It all started nearly ten years ago when Fine Dining’s Executive Pastry Chef, Chad Horton, was playing around with different ice cream flavors and making delicious and unique ice cream sandwiches for some of the Fine Dining’s restaurants around town. As popularity grew for the artisanal ice cream treats, Horton and the folks at Fine Dining decided to see if they could reach a larger market through the local grocery stores. While Cream + Sugar now delivers tasty ice cream and sandwiches to 9 different states across the country and dozens of retailers, the dream has always been to open a scoop shop.
With the help of the designers at Nye Designs, The Scoop Shop has become a reality. The small, yet playful, space is the perfect location to swing by for a pick me up, or to grab dessert after a night on the town. The mint green walls and tiled design invites you in, and behind the glass you’ll find an array of ice cream flavors which rotate monthly.
Try a classic flavor like salted caramel or cookies and cream, or branch out and try something like the spicy strawberry made with Carolina Reaper peppers! Or try the lemon curd shortbread made as a nod to the non-profit Alex’s Lemonade Stand (with proceeds from the flavor sales going to benefit the organization). Of course, the ice cream sandwiches are available and should not be overlooked! All the ice cream is made locally and then stuffed between two handmade cookies and encrusted in chocolate sprinkles.
No matter your choice, you can’t go wrong with a stop at the new Cream + Sugar scoop shop on the square. Open from noon to 10 p.m. daily, you can even grab a more from the frozen section to take home and enjoy later!
