Snow King Mountain, which has long been referred to as the Town Hill for its proximity to downtown Jackson, is not just a winter haven for ski enthusiasts. It offers a range of exciting activities and breathtaking sights for visitors and locals to enjoy during the summer months. Whether you’re an adventure seeker or someone looking to relax surrounded by nature, Snow King Mountain has something for everyone.

2. For Kids (and Kids at Heart)

Families with children will love the mini golf, Amaze’n Maze, and bungee trampoline activities at Snow King Mountain. Then, let your kids experience the thrill of bouncing high on a bungee trampoline (under the watchful eye of experienced instructors).

Fun for all ages are the Cowboy Coaster and Alpine Slide. “Adults love the Alpine Slide and Cowboy Coaster as well,” says Snow King Sales Manager Sidney Roubin, “You don’t really grow out of those things—they’re fun for everyone.” Both tracks zip across the lower slopes of Snow King Mountain and allow riders to set their own pace. The best way to experience all that Snow King has to offer is by purchasing a Big King Pass. The Big King Evening Pass allows for unlimited rides and activities from 5:30 p.m. to close; the Big King Pass Lite allows for one full day of adventures; while the Big King Ultimate includes two fun-filled days at Snow King and is the only pass that includes the zip line and Treetop Adventure.

3. For Solitude

For a more relaxed experience, take a scenic gondola ride to the summit of Snow King Mountain. Admire the panoramic views of the Tetons and the town of Jackson below as you glide 1,571 feet up the mountain. Once at the top, you can take in the sights, bring and enjoy a picnic or simply relax in the peaceful setting.

4. For a Challenge

If you’re in the mood for some adrenaline-pumping fun, try out the Treetop Adventure Course and zip line—which happens to be the steepest in North America. The aerial ropes course offers a series of challenges and obstacles set high up in the trees. Test your balance, agility and bravery as you navigate through the course, enjoying amazing views along the way. The Treetop Adventure Course also serves as a great team building activity. For such groups, Snow King Mountain does offer private guides for groups, and they are equipped to accommodate groups of all sizes. Discounts are available for groups larger than 20.

5. For Diners

After working up an appetite on or at the base of the mountain, head to King’s Grill, which is centrally located at the base of the Rafferty lift. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this casual spot recently released a larger menu for the summer season—tripling the size of its offerings compared to previous seasons. Already, menu favorites include the mango Sriracha chicken wings, tater tots and the daily taco specials. On hot afternoons, cool down with a milkshake or sloshy (an alcohol-spiked slushy).

6. For Live Music Lovers

In addition to its numerous outdoor activities, Snow King Mountain is hosting a series of King Concerts at the top of the mountain this summer. These concerts offer a unique opportunity to enjoy great music while surrounded by the natural beauty of Jackson Hole. Included in this concert experience is a scenic gondola ride to the top of the summit, as well as a return trip under a starry mountain sky. While the concert series kicked off earlier this month, a shows remain: String Cheese Incident concludes this summer’s series on August 2. Concertgoers can expect food and beverage tents or trucks at the top of the mountain, but VIP ticket holders are treated to a buffet and drinks. From the base of the mountain to the summit, Snow King Mountain has staff on-hand to ensure attendees have a smooth experience throughout.

So, whether you’re seeking thrilling adventures, or a more relaxing experience surrounded by nature, Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole has it all. Plan your summer trip now and make the most of the outdoor activities and sights that this incredible mountain has to offer.

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
