Presented in celebration of VIM’s 10th anniversary, Ohno’s exclusive book launch will take place in Jackson on Friday.
Olympic gold medalist speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno participated in three winter Olympics from 2002 to 2010. He holds the record for most Olympic medals of any U.S. athlete at the winter Games and has earned 21 World Championship medals. He was also the season-four champion of Dancing with the Stars. And his next stop is Jackson Hole this week to launch his new book, Hard Pivot.
Presented by our local gym VIM and owner Julie Guttormson, the exclusive book launch is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of VIM. Hard Pivot will be released on Feb. 22, and the event will take place on the evening of Friday, Feb. 25 at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. The book is not only for athletes, but anyone who is navigating challenges and change in our ever-complicated world.

In the book, Ohno shares his “five golden principles” for overcoming challenges with resilience, creativity and purpose. According to the book description, “in speed skating, a hard pivot is an aggressive shift of direction that requires courage, practice and split-second timing.”
“This book comes at a time where many people have reinvented and pivoted themselves in our rapidly changing world,” said VIM owner and event curator, Guttormson.
Apolo walks his talk and approaches life with his athletic mindset, a drive many in our community can relate and connect to.
