Kurt Harland started coming to Jackson Hole back in the ’90s to visit his brother and to ski. He had been working in construction and teaching ski lessons in Oregon, and decided to stay in Jackson for a year as a ski bum. He built his brother’s house and worked as a ski instructor at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Like so many other people here, the rest is history.

He made the official move to town about 20 years ago, and later met his wife and had two boys. He now owns Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Brokers of Jackson Hole Real Estate and still teaches skiing once a week with a local ladies group.

What is your favorite restaurant for dining out in Jackson?
I really like The Bistro, the old and the new. It’s casual, you get top notch food, and it’s super easy to go in and grab a bite, whether it’s lunch or dinner. The old one had its own feel, but I really like the new one as well.
What restaurants have been your go-to for take-out since COVID-19 started?
Snake River Brewing Company, they were doing the barbecue, and they were doing a to-go menu that was phenomenal. We didn’t do a lot of takeout, we cooked a lot at home during that time.
What is your favorite specialty cocktail or beverage in town?
A Grand Teton Vodka moscow mule. Anywhere that serves Grand Teton Vodka, I’ll get one.
What is your favorite spot for each meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner?
My favorite breakfast spot is probably Sweet Cheeks. Favorite lunch is Snake River Brewing. And dinner is Snake River Grill.
If you were to go out for a treat, what’s your go-to and where?
Moo’s Ice Cream, I will eat any flavor of ice cream.
Is there anything you’re looking forward to in the Jackson dining scene this winter?
Seasonal beverages provided by all the fine brewing establishments.
