Coq Au Vin for a Cold Day

Jump to recipe

In this season’s Kitchen Views, we featured a South American couple with a kitchen large enough to accommodate their whole family. With seats for 20, this kitchen is home to many family meals prepared after the couple, their children and their grandchildren have called it a day on the slopes. One of their favorite recipes that didn’t make it into this issue? Coq au vin. Filling, inexpensive to prepare (even for a family of 20) and flavorful, we have the recipe for you below. Find more of their recipes, and photos of their stunning kitchen, in Dishing issue 11, on stands now.

Cara Rank

Also originally from the South, Cara Rank discovered cooking was a creative outlet that helped her relax after long days writing magazine and newspaper articles during the past eight years in Jackson. Really, she just missed Southern food. A lot. During a 12-year career as a journalist, Cara has won numerous awards for her work and has written about everything from rodeo queens to Dolly Parton tomatoes. She spends her weekends making jars of pickles and jam and amazing dinners for friends. She loves shishito peppers, Chicago-style hot dogs and elderflower-spiked cocktails.
