Need wine recommendations to celebrate the New Year? Jasmine Coplan, manager of Basecamp Wilson has you covered!
Let’s start with wines to pair with dinner:
- Viña Tondonia: This medium to full-bodied tempranillo is complex, savory and a classic choice for holiday dinners. Its robust tannins make it an excellent match for rich, meaty dishes, effortlessly cutting through hearty stews.
- Les Valseuses Ces Gens-La: Starting your dinner with cured meats and cheeses? This delightful gamay/chardonnay blend is a fresh and silky natural wine, presented in a magnum bottle—perfect for getting the party started!
- Francis Orban Extra Brut Champagne: Ever heard the saying that champagne tastes like stars? One sip of this vibrant, juicy bottle will make you understand why. It’s a fun, crowd-pleasing choice guaranteed to elevate any celebration.
And for dessert:
For dessert, Coplan recommends a riesling. The Joseph Cattin gewürztraminer “Hatschbourg” is a rich white wine with hints of spice and exotic fruits, making it a wonderful pairing for peach cobbler.
And what wine works best to cook with?
At Basecamp, they believe the best wine for cooking is one you also enjoy drinking. A splash for the dish and a sip for the chef is our mantra! If you’re feeling adventurous, consider using one of their natural wines to add an extra kick of earthy flavor to your culinary creations.
And one more personal recommendation from Coplan:
There’s something about a chilled red wine that really hits the spot. The 2022 Jolie-Laide red wine, a trousseau noir blend, is wonderfully delicate and refreshing—guaranteed to make any wine lover do a little happy dance. With notes of raspberry, cranberry, and black peppercorn, this approachable natural wine is best served after a couple of hours in the fridge. Pair it with a juicy hamburger for the perfect combo. It’s also a great choice for curing a holiday hangover!
