Time to go Inside

Check out park one of Dishing’s indoor autumn activities guide.

A crisp chill has arrived and after a summer of fun in the sun, going inside sounds like a cozy idea. While Jackson is known for its plethora of outdoor activities, there is also plenty of ways indoors to entertain and have fun… so many that this is a two-part blog!

Tucked in the heart of downtown Jackson, the Jackson Hole History Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the valley’s rugged past. Through carefully curated exhibits and artifacts, visitors can trace Jackson Hole’s evolution. From its Native American roots and fur-trading days to the rise of ranching, mountaineering and modern mountain life. Whether you’re a history buff or simply curious about the stories behind this iconic Western town, the museum provides an engaging, hands-on experience that connects the spirit of the past to the beauty of the present.

Outside of exploring the museum, there is plenty of programming and events to keep all ages engaged this fall. For the kids, the next Cozy Camp will take place over Thanksgiving break (Nov.25-27). Campers will explore an era when homesteaders made hand-dipped candles, stamped leather, and whittled wood. The lottery for admission is open from Oct. 20-27. Click here for cost and admission info. For adults who consider themselves local history buffs, the off-season is a great time to register to volunteer.
