Taste Your Way Into Fall With Teton Village Restaurant Week and the Art & Culinary Fair

There’s something especially good about September in Jackson Hole. The pace begins to soften, cooler evenings hint at the season ahead, and the valley turns its attention toward art, food and everything that makes fall here worth savoring.

Next week, Teton Village is giving locals and visitors two particularly delicious reasons to head to the West Bank: Teton Village Restaurant Week, Sept. 7-13, and the inaugural Teton Village Art & Culinary Fair, Sept. 12. Together, the events offer a perfect way to ease into all that fall has to offer — preferably with something excellent on your plate.

Explore Teton Village, One Restaurant at a Time

Running Sept. 7-13, Teton Village Restaurant Week brings special prix fixe lunch and dinner menus to restaurants throughout the Village, with offerings priced at $29 and $49.

The idea is simple: Try someplace new, return to a longtime favorite or make a week of it and sample several. Participating chefs will focus on seasonal ingredients and menus that showcase the personality of each restaurant.

This year’s participating restaurants include:

That lineup gives diners plenty of room to roam, whether the evening calls for Italian flavors, mountainside dining, a casual post-adventure meal or something a little more celebratory.

And Restaurant Week lands at an ideal moment. It coincides with the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, giving diners an easy excuse to pair a day of galleries, exhibits and events with dinner in the Village.

Art, Food and Live Music Meet in the Village Commons

On Saturday, Sept. 12, the celebration expands beyond the dining room with the first Teton Village Art & Culinary Fair, a new signature event of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival.

From 11 a.m.-5 p.m., the Village Commons will transform into an outdoor gathering of art, food and live music. Admission to the art fair is free, with more than 20 regional artists and makers showing fine art, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork and other handcrafted pieces in partnership with Mountain Craft Jackson Hole.

Live music will add to the afternoon atmosphere. The Chanman Jazz Quartet will open the day, followed by the Sasha Berliner Duo. Berliner is an award-winning vibraphonist and composer whose music moves across jazz, pop, rock and funk.

In other words, this isn’t the kind of art fair where you make one dutiful lap and head home. Grab a drink, peruse the booths, listen to the music and settle into a September afternoon in the Village.

Add a Food and Drink Pairing to the Afternoon

The culinary side of the fair kicks into gear from noon-3 p.m. with an optional ticketed Food & Drink Pairing Experience.

Participating restaurants will serve signature bites alongside craft beverages and curated pairings, giving guests a chance to taste their way through a broad cross-section of the Village dining scene in a single afternoon.

The current lineup includes Corsa, Shin Shin, The Handle Bar, Tram Dock, Spur Restaurant & Bar, Il Villaggio Osteria, Wild Pine, Sure Hand and Bodega. Advance tickets are required for the tasting experience.

Better yet, the fair falls right in the middle of Restaurant Week. That makes it easy to spend the afternoon browsing art and sampling bites before settling in for a prix fixe dinner — or turn the whole thing into a weekend devoted to Fall Arts Festival events, mountain time and some very good food.

Make a Day of It

September can feel like a sweet spot in Teton Village: Summer hasn’t entirely disappeared, fall is beginning to make itself known, and there’s finally a little room to slow down and enjoy where you are.

Restaurant Week and the Art & Culinary Fair lean right into that feeling. Come for lunch. Wander through the art booths. Stay for music. Try a restaurant you’ve been meaning to visit. Then come back another night and try another!

After all, fall in Jackson Hole never lasts quite long enough. You might as well taste as much of it as you can.

Melissa Thomasma

In full rebellion against the unpredictable climate of the Rocky Mountains, you can find Melissa on her Teton Valley deck grilling any month of the year. Typically in flip flops. Snow, rain, wind… no weather is too fierce. She’s a lover of peaches in any form, has a borderline addiction to arugula, and (strangely) has been known to drizzle soy sauce on pizza. But even more than she loves her stand mixer and cast iron collection, she adores cooking for her husband and two kids. When this Jackson Hole native isn’t scurrying around her messy kitchen, she’s probably outside floating the river, hiking, camping, fishing, or, well… grilling.
