Kampai’s rooftop sushi experience just got an upgrade, and yes, it’s (literally) as amazing as it sounds. The Rooftop is back for another season of high-altitude vibes and fresh beats with the return of Summer Sessions, a handpicked (not rolled) series of Thursday night live DJ sets featuring some of Jackson’s favorite DJs.
“Music is a major part of the Kampai dining experience,” shares Dan Janjigian, General Manager at Kampai. “We’re always listening for tracks that elevate the guest experience. Last summer, we experimented with live DJ nights on the Rooftop, and the response was incredible. But we didn’t want to commit to a full series until we were sure it added something special to the atmosphere we work hard to create.”
The guest response was so great, Kampai has decided to give the people what they want with a dedicated night of the week for DJs for the summer.
The Rooftop already offers a distinct experience from Kampai’s main dining room. Drawing from the centuries-old Japanese izakaya tradition, where sake shop owners began offering small plates and seating to customers, the Rooftop brings that casual, hospitable vibe to Jackson. With its own dedicated kitchen and full bar, the Rooftop features an izakaya-inspired menu of hot and cold small plates alongside raw fish specialties like sashimi, rolls, and handrolls, most of which are exclusive to upstairs. “It’s a laid-back, elevated dining experience,” says Janjigian. “And the Summer Sessions just add another layer to that.”
The Summer Session schedule is a great mix of local DJs who each bring their own style to the Rooftop experience.

Summer Sessions take place every Thursday from 5–9 PM on the Rooftop. Reservations are available via OpenTable.com, with limited walk-up seating released day-of, weather permitting.
