Schwartz believes that the current single use system is old and outdated. Therefore, he created Avant Delivery, a sustainable grocery delivery and zero waste take-out service.
Here’s how it works:
- Sign up and receive the Avant reusables box. This box stays at your home like a recycling bin. Leave it outside or in an accessible place for Avant employees to pick it up.
- Throw all Avant packaging in the reusables box including take out containers, food containers, tote bags and produce bags, rather than putting single use packaging in the recycling or trash.
- Depending on what program you sign up for an Avant employee will come to your home each week to pick up your reusables box and replace it with a fresh one, or switch out the old box with a new one containing your fresh groceries.
Avant grocery delivery offers same day delivery from Whole Foods Market to your front door. All groceries are delivered in reusable totes, reusable produce bags, and boxes. Same day grocery delivery is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit the website for a full list of grocery items available.
For those of you tired of throwing away cardboard boxes, and plastic containers from to-go orders, Avant offers a zero waste take-out option. Avant Delivery subscribers can opt for reusable take-out containers from participating restaurants when placing online orders to-go. Just choose Avant Delivery when finalizing your order. Currently in a trial run phase with Local Restaurant, Avant plans on expanding its partnerships in town beginning this month.

Once collected, all Avant packaging is taken to a facility where it is cleaned, rinsed and sanitized following FDA regulations and using an EPA certified COVID-19 killer. All packaging is then placed back into the system for reuse, eliminating the need for single use packaging.
Coming April 1, Avant will also tackle sustainability among local food staples by delivering Jackson’s favorite locally made goods in Avant reusable packaging.
