A few weeks ago, while distracting myself from work with Facebook, I stumbled upon the page for Dust Cutter Lemonade. I was intrigued, so, of course, I sent the company a private message to find out the scoop.
Turns out, the brand has been 10 years in the making and will likely launch sometime this year, said owner Eric Green.
Dust Cutter was inspired by his mother, who grew up on Warm Springs Ranch as part of the Abercrombie family.
“As the story goes, after a long day on the dusty trails, they would come back to the ranch and have Dust Cutters,” Green said.
The original Dust Cutter was a mix of whiskey and lemonade, and Green started down that road 10 years ago. But he couldn’t make the alcoholic beverage work, so he settled on making a good tasting, all natural lemonade.
Last year, he found an investor, who has helped make the brand a reality. During the past 12 months, Green has formulated a lemonade (fashioned after the taste of a glass of just-squeezed juice), a lemonade tea and a huckleberry lemonade.
He boasts that the products are all natural and low in calories—one serving has just 80 calories. While not a family recipe, it is fashioned after that old idea of a Dust Cutter, he said.
Green is now working on obtaining a distributor for the product, which is bottled in Minnesota.
“There is one place in the country that can fill our aluminum resealable bottle,” he said.
While not available yet, head on over to their Facebook page and give them a like. We highly encourage mixing one of these beverages with a little Wyoming Whiskey.
“They make a great mixer,” Green said.
