JHMR donates $16,000 to Hole Food Rescue

hfrAs one of the few restaurants in Jackson Hole that’s a member of 1% for the Planet, Couloir (and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort) have donated $16,000 to Hole Food Rescue.

The $16,000 donation was matched with funds from the Community Foundation by way of Old Bills. This is the third year Couloir Restaurant has made a 1% for the Planet pledge: the prior two years Couloir contributed over $31,000 to Vertical Harvest, the hydroponic greenhouse project currently under construction in town, with a projected February opening date.

Mountain resort employee Ali Dunford founded Hole Food Rescue.

“[I]n a very short amount of time, [she has] created awareness about food waste and food insecurities that exist our community, and we’re looking forward to helping them grow their programming,” said JHMR Vice President of Products Sales and Services Jessica Milligan.

The resort will also be fundraising at various 50th Anniversary events for four other local nonprofits: Teton County Search and Rescue, Yellowstone Clean Energy Coalition, Honoring our Veterans and Friends of Pathways.

Cara Rank

Also originally from the South, Cara Rank discovered cooking was a creative outlet that helped her relax after long days writing magazine and newspaper articles during the past eight years in Jackson. Really, she just missed Southern food. A lot. During a 12-year career as a journalist, Cara has won numerous awards for her work and has written about everything from rodeo queens to Dolly Parton tomatoes. She spends her weekends making jars of pickles and jam and amazing dinners for friends. She loves shishito peppers, Chicago-style hot dogs and elderflower-spiked cocktails.
