Wine Tasting & More

On Sundays and Thursdays through the end of September, head south of Jackson Hole to Astoria Hot Springs Park (look for the big red bridge spanning the Snake River). From 1 to 7 p.m., you can sample the locally crafted wines from Jackson Hole Winery. While reservations are not strictly required, they’re highly suggested.

Groups with reservations ($65 per person) will sample 7 or 8 wines from the award-winning Jackson Hole Winery and indulge in a charcuterie board. “It’s a great spot with nice indoor and outdoor space,” says Daniel Roork, winery manager. The patio, replete with Adirondack chairs for ultimate relaxation, overlooks the free-flowing river below.

“It’s a unique experience,” Roork added. “It’s a nice opportunity to get away from the bustle of Teton Village or downtown Jackson and enjoy a more secluded, mountain feeling.”

Summertime Pours for Every Palate

While there’s certainly no bad choice among the offerings from Jackson Hole Winery — a family-owned, boutique winery — Roork has a few top suggestions for warm summer days. He’s a fan of the Viognier — dry, crisp, and aromatic wine that jumps out of the glass with notes of apricot and white peaches. Perfect, he said, for a refreshing drink on a hot day.

Roork also highlighted the Alpine Glow Rosé — a light, crisp and refreshing sip that pairs beautifully with summer sunsets. Jackson Hole Winery products are available at their tasting rooms (also located on the Town Square and in Teton Village) and at all major liquor retailers in the valley.

Melissa Thomasma

In full rebellion against the unpredictable climate of the Rocky Mountains, you can find Melissa on her Teton Valley deck grilling any month of the year. Typically in flip flops. Snow, rain, wind… no weather is too fierce. She’s a lover of peaches in any form, has a borderline addiction to arugula, and (strangely) has been known to drizzle soy sauce on pizza. But even more than she loves her stand mixer and cast iron collection, she adores cooking for her husband and two kids. When this Jackson Hole native isn’t scurrying around her messy kitchen, she’s probably outside floating the river, hiking, camping, fishing, or, well… grilling.
