Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Hatch Taqueria and Tequilas

Cinco de Mayo is more than just an excuse to enjoy tacos and margaritas—it’s a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture, heritage and resilience. While often mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day, this holiday actually commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Today, it’s often celebrated with music, food, dance and community gatherings that honor the spirit and pride of Mexico.

And where should you fiesta this Cinco de Mayo? Hatch Taqueria and Tequilas will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo all day long (which starts at 8am)!

Drink Specials

Let the margaritas start to flow with two marg specials: enjoy a Hatch Traditional Margarita – 100% blue agave blanco and fresh lime juice for $10 (normally $14). Or suck down a People’s Margarita – Teremana Blanco, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice and agave nectar for $10 (normally $13).

And if margaritas aren’t your numero uno of beverage choice this Cinco de Mayo, Hatch’s usual cocktail and beer list will be available along with their extensive tequila and mezcal selection.

A quick vocabulary lesson in tequilas

Tequila: a Mexican liquor made from agave.

Mezcal: Traditionally, a mezcal is any Mexican agave distillate.

  • Blanco: Tequilas that are unaged or aged up to 2 months in stainless steel or neutral oak.
  • Resposado: Tequilas aged 2 months to a year, in various styles of oak barrels.
  • Anejo: Tequilas aged a minimum of 1 year, but less than 3 years, in oak barrels. Extra Anejos are aged a minimum of 3 years.

Food Specials

Dive into a Taco Sampler platter with a delicious mix of Hatch’s best-selling tacos: Two pulled pork, two chicken tinga and two verduras (vegetable) tacos, for $25 (normally $38).

*Fun Cinco de Mayo fact: While tacos are popular in the US during Cinco de Mayo, the traditional food for the holiday in Mexico, especially in Puebla, is mole poblano. Chiles en nogada and tamales are also considered conventional dishes for the occasion.

Spin it to Win it

The Wheel of Fun is back for Cinco de Mayo this year, starting at 3:30 p.m.! To participate, buy a cocktail of any kind (twist our arm!), and spin the wheel. Then see what prizes, including but not limited to tequila shots, margaritas and t-shirts! Que divertido!

More happenings at Hatch

Hatch is participating in Guac on the Rock for May. If you order a Teremana-based cocktail, you can get an order of traditional guacamole and chips for free. How it works: purchase a traditional chips and guac at Hatch, and then submit your receipt via Teremana’s website and get reimbursed via Venmo… and yes, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, is paying for your chips and guac! We like what The Rock’s been cooking/guac-ing!
