Backcountry Safaris and Provisions JH Team Up for Adventurous Picnics

This winter, Backcountry Safaris launched cross-country and snowmobile tours on private ranch land along the shores of the Snake River, partnering with Provisions JH to create the ultimate adventurous picnic experience.

Backcountry Safaris has tours set up on a ranch along Fall Creek Road, which offers a quiet wilderness experience that guests can enjoy by cross-country ski, snowmobile or snow cat.

“It’s the perfect partnership because both companies are showcasing the best Jackson has to offer,” says Molly Hagan of Backcountry Safaris. “You get amazing local food offerings as well as experiencing an operational ranch and the beauty of the Snake River.”

Guests head out with a guide to enjoy Teton views and remote trails, with a picnic set up at the halfway point, customized to whatever the group requests. “We have fondue warmed over a fire, charcuterie boards, sandwiches – we can really do anything up to lobster tails and oysters with Provisions,” says Hagan. “The sky’s the limit.” A few weeks ago they even did a birthday tour, with a cake and dessert board picnic.

For those who may want an easier way in, you can take a snow cat out to the picnic area, which has a warming igloo, picnic benches, and plenty of amenities to stay comfortable on chilly Wyoming afternoons. Champagne is available upon request, to pour at a scenic spot to celebrate or just feel festive with friends and family.

The picnic options are all private tours (you can also sign up for a cross-country or snowmobile tour without the picnic option), and customized for each party. Hotel pick-up is included, and the location is just a 20-minute drive from Teton Village. Tours are typically about four hours, so Hagan says it’s easy for folks to build multiple activities into the day.

“Really we’re providing a venue for people to enjoy each other’s company and try something new,” says Hagan. “And it’s a beautiful way for people to see a side of Jackson that most people don’t get to.”
