100 Ski Days, 50 waffles

A look back at a season worth savoring at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Some seasons are measured in powder days. Others in milestones. This one, for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Marketing Director Henrik Lampert, it was both — with a giant side of waffles!

For Lampert, what started as a goal to ski 100 days quickly turned into something more: a full-on ritual, fueled by early Tram laps and a steady pursuit of Corbet’s Cabin waffles. Somewhere along the way, it became a 2:1 ratio with two ski days for every waffle, and his season found its storyline.

Lampert said, “There’s something about those early Tram rides that feels almost unreal. The Tetons glowing, the valley still quiet, and that first light hitting the top like a curtain call. It’s not just skiing — it’s a whole experience. And then, of course, there’s the reward waiting at the top.”

Maybe the waffle obsession makes sense. Lampert has Norwegian roots, and it tracks — “vafler” aren’t just food, they’re a whole vibe. Warmth, comfort, a little nostalgia. In Norway, waffles are tied to kos — that feeling of coziness and connection. Turns out, that translates pretty seamlessly to a Jackson ski season.

Between storm cycles, bluebird mornings and countless Tram laps, the waffles became more than just a snack. They were the checkpoint. The celebration. The excuse to pause and take it all in. And Lampert’s standard order? “My go-to is always the Trad; brown sugar and butter is the old-fashioned, best way to go. Classic. If I want savory, it’s the Gateway: peanut butter and bacon. Excellent ski fuel. When I’m feeling extra indulgent, the Belgian always wins. Cookie butter, caramel drizzle, powdered sugar — the powdered sugar feels especially appropriate on powder mornings. Fresh tracks, fresh stacks.”

Fun sugar-fueled fact: towards the end of the season, to keep up with his goal, Lampert had to down 3 waffles in one day!

Outside of Lampert’s success, this was a season worth celebrating across the board. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort powered through a season with a snowfall total of 347 inches, and enthusiastic skiers enjoyed the season from day to a slushy end. The season’s grand finale was the road to Rendezvous Fest — when the energy shifted from powder turns to playlists. The Tetons set the stage for a weekend of could n’t-miss concerts featuring Umphrey’s McGee and The Flaming Lips. It was the perfect sendoff: a celebration of winter, community and a season well spent.

And now the lifts are closed, and the season has ended, it’s not just about the numbers, 100 days, 50 waffles, it’s about the rhythm of it all. The early mornings, the shared chairlift stories, the simple joy of doing something over and over again because you love it. Because in Jackson, a great season isn’t just skied. It’s savored. Here’s to a great winter, and cheers to the on-coming summer fun to be had (and tasted) at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Be sure to get these summer JHMR events on your calendar!
