Great Getaway: The Lodge at Blue Sky

Nestled into the hillside just outside of Park City, Utah, rests The Lodge at Blue Sky. This Auberge resort opened in 2019 and is situated on 3500 acres of rolling hillside. With sweeping views, miles of outdoor entertainment and an incredible restaurant and bar, it is an easy spot to get to for a quick and luxurious getaway from Jackson Hole.

Since I go to Park City regularly for work for Dishing Park City, I had been to the lodge’s restaurant, Yuta, a couple of times. I knew that the chef, Galen Zamarra, is a James Beard-award winning chef who has a passion for precision and locavore dining, but I had yet to see a room or experience all the hotel (and its nearby farm) has to offer. And from the first moments, it was everything we had expected and more.

Homemade cider and a lovely staff, greeted us, as did a roaring fire. The lodge rooms are both modern (think green initiatives, deep-soaking tubs with a view and bath salts), but cozy and filled with amenities like snacks, drinks, COVID-friendly masks and water bottles.

A soak in the hot tub is not-to-be missed.

Besides relaxing and eating, there is a plenty to do at the lodge. Miles of private trails, daily yoga and enrichment classes, a spa, and as many outdoor activities as you would like to plan.

The meals at Blue Sky, are as special as the space. Starting with the incredible homemade breads and creative cocktails, everything was top notch. Whether you enjoy a leisurely breakfast in your room, lunch in the bar, or dinner at Yuta, the attention to detail in each dish and simple sophistication shines through. You may need to use the Peloton in the resort’s gym because so much of the menu is irresistible!

This beet humus with sunflowers and tomatoes is served with homemade pita and we loved every bite.

The daily morning yoga was a great way to start the day, after our room service breakfast, of course. There are so many details that make your stay special, and we promise, you won’t want to leave. But when you do, they don’t just send you away, they pack your car with a little gift that will remind you to come back again soon. We hope to!
