On Saturday, the Jackson Hole Farmer’s Market started its first market of the season. There were masks, music and arrows on the ground to keep vendors and shoppers in-line with town safety guidelines. While there weren’t as many hot prepared foods as some years, here’s a list of things to try after you finish buying your favorite locally grown produce.

Larks Meadow Farms: Cheese and pastries! How can you go wrong? Whether you have a sweet or savory tooth, you won’t want to skip this booth. If you’re in for a creamy treat, try the pasteis de nata. It’s a delicious rum custard that has a wonderfully light flakey crust surrounding the thick indulgent custard.

ROOTS Kitchen & Cannery: They are still serving up their locally-sourced pickles, preserves and canned goods, but they’re adding quiche to the mix. Make sure to get to the market early because pie maker Willi Brooks sells out fast. Last Saturday Brooks served up jalapeno bacon, bacon mushroom veggie, and tomato feta basil quiches.

Midnight Pie and Co.: If you want a sweet pie, head over to Midnight Pie and Co. for full pies, sliced pies, hand pies and scones. Each week they have a sweet and savory scone, too. On Saturday, they served up a blueberry cornmeal scone and a radish, dill, goat cheese scone. *INSIDE SCOOP* next week they’re baking a peach pie with peaches bought by their next-booth neighbor!

Chasing Paradise: They sell nuts, pesto, honey, hummus and more, but you MUST try the “All Good” bars. These bars are packed with organic oats, peanut butter, puffed brown rice, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, cranberries, walnuts, sesame seeds and honey. They are perfect for an early morning snack as you shop around the market.

Teton Full Circle Farms: If all you want is a tummy full of organic greens, more power to ya! Teton Full Circle farms had an enormous selection of beautiful organic leafy greens.
At the end of the day, you really can’t go wrong supporting Jackson’s Farmer’s Market. The summer market is open every Saturday 8 a.m. to noon until Sept. 26, 2020.
