Get Everything But the Dress Cakes and Cupcakes To Go

EBT Wedding CakeI’m the type of person who always has the good intention of making a birthday cake from scratch. But when the time comes, and I’ve already spent hours prepping and preparing the actual birthday meal, the cake is the first thing to get scratched from my list.

In fact, a few weeks ago I was hosting a birthday dinner and was about to begin the 48-hour process of making such a cake. But then, my inbox dinged with an email from Everything But the Dress offering to-go cake and cupcake service. I called and reserved a dozen cupcakes immediately.

Owner Ashley Ost is now offering 6 and 8-inch cakes and cupcakes to-go each week. Every Tuesday she will send an email announcing flavors and sizes to the Chamber of Commerce email list (she also announces on her website and Instagram page). Reservations are highly recommended and must be in by Tuesday evening each week. For those who don’t preorder, she will have a small number of cakes and cupcakes available on a first come, first serve basis. Pickup is Friday and Saturday.

“I started this service to give people another option for everyday and celebration cakes,” she said. “These cakes have a high end emphasis for a more affordable price.”

Flavors and sizes change weekly and typically coordinate with what she’s baking for weddings.

Cakes come in 6 inch rounds (feeds up to 12) and 8 inch (feeds up to 20). Stacked cakes are available upon request only. Assorted cupcakes are sold by the dozen. To place an order call 307-690-8998. Pick-up is at Roam Mercantile and Makery, 35 S. Glenwood St.

Also originally from the South, Cara Rank discovered cooking was a creative outlet that helped her relax after long days writing magazine and newspaper articles during the past eight years in Jackson. Really, she just missed Southern food. A lot. During a 12-year career as a journalist, Cara has won numerous awards for her work and has written about everything from rodeo queens to Dolly Parton tomatoes. She spends her weekends making jars of pickles and jam and amazing dinners for friends. She loves shishito peppers, Chicago-style hot dogs and elderflower-spiked cocktails.
