Three Can’t-Miss Cocktails for Après this Winter

Find new Jackson Hole favorites from Local, Glorietta and Merry Piglets.

During our long Jackson winters, après ski is more than just a tradition; it’s a way of life. You don’t have to go skiing to attend après, you just need the desire to warm up with friends and laugh about the day with a cocktail in hand. We’ve rounded up three must-try craft cocktails within walking distance from Jackson’s Town Square.

Local: Piano Key Necktie

Piano Key Necktie from Local

Bartender Patrick Kraushaar said that Local staff had fun coming up with their Zoolander-themed cocktail names. Along with this one, you can find other mixed drinks with silly references to the Ben Stiller movie. The Piano Key Necktie starts with a Wild Turkey Rarebreed Whiskey base. House-infused maple syrup with sweet spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves adds a winter-warming effect. A Prosecco floater balances the strength of the whiskey while complimenting the flavor, and also adding a bit of bubbles. Profile: Citrus, bubbly, winter spice

Glorietta: Cedarholm

Cedarholm from Glorietta

This refreshing cocktail is like lemonade for winter. Created by bartender Chris Andrews, this beverage was named for longtime bartender and server at both Nani’s and Glorietta, Taylor Cedarholm. “When she left, I said I was going to name a cocktail after her,” said Andrews. The drink starts with house-made mint-infused Brennivin Aquavit, an herbal and spiced Scandinavian spirit. It is rounded out with lemon sherbet and Yellow Chartreuse. A subtle taste of cocoa comes through from Frangelico and chocolate bitters. Profile: Citrus, floral, cocoa

Merry Piglets: Cindia Lou Who

Cindia Lou Who from Merry Piglets

If you enjoy mezcal, or if you’ve been too intimidated to try it, this mixed drink is for you. Merry Piglets bartender Andy Munteanu explained that the mezcal is typically produced in the Oaxaca region of Mexico at an elevation of over 5,000 feet. The smokiness of mezcal comes from the agave plant being roasted in earthen pit ovens, often for days. This cocktail balances the strong flavor of the liquor with lemon, lime and strawberry for sweetness. Coconut cream stirred in adds a dreamy-creamy texture. Profile: Smoky, fruity, creamy
