Since opening almost a decade ago, Persephone Bakery has been recognized on several statewide ‘Best Bakery’ lists for its homemade baked goods, including artisanal breads and viennoiserie. And earlier this month, the French-inspired bakery was recognized by Food & Wine for the best sandwich in Wyoming.
Persephone is known for many specialities including the French-influenced baguette. A bread that can easily be enjoyed all by itself, or as a sandwich, filled with a variety of meats and cheeses. According to Food & Wine, Persephone’s homemade baguette is best enjoyed slathered in butter and mustard, and stuffed with ham and gruyere cheese.
It’s sold on every corner in every cafe in France, so who better to take a cue from? The classics are my favorite. Honestly, I agree that it almost doesn’t matter what’s on the baguette, the entire sandwich is elevated by the traditional French bread.

‘The Best Sandwiches In Every State,” by Food & Wine, did not include the most fashionable or visually appealing. It was more about survival of the fittest, or sandwiches that have stood the test of time. And there were strict parameters like, no burgers, no hot dogs, no burritos, no tacos, and no barbecue.
It is so fabulous! To be called out for one of the foundational breads by such an incredible publication is an honor. We do our best to make it as close to what we loved everyday in Paris, which isn’t easy, so we really appreciate the recognition.
