Mark your calendars for the annual Million Pound Party at the Center for the Arts on August 26 at 5 p.m.
The famous pig roast cook-off is hosted by Hole Food Rescue, a local nonprofit that works to reduce food waste and cultivate food security in Teton County. The Million Pound Party is a celebration of the amount of food the organization has diverted from going to waste – over 1.5 million pounds to date.
The event truly embraces the food recovery hierarchy, as the chefs are cooking with hogs donated by Haderlie Farms in Thayne, WY that have lived off of food we compost when it is deemed unsuitable for redistribution.
Lisa Lent, Executive Director at Hole Food Rescue

Four local chefs will go head to head for this year’s Golden Pig Award, including Jeremy Williamson from Old Yellowstone Garage, Cody Allen from Calico, and Michael Rollinson from The Handle Bar, who is defending his title as the winner from both 2018 and 2019. Attendees will have the chance to taste each dish and vote for the winner, whose name will be engraved on the New West Knifeworks trophy.

“All of the chefs get super creative which is truly why this event is so special,” says Lent. “We have had everything from a chef who stayed up all night to manually move around charcoal to smoke his hog, to Korean BBQ styles of pork, and even sweetbreads in 2019! It is a friendly competition but all of our chefs come to win the MPP Trophy.”
The Million Pound Party is a family friendly event – children under 12 are free. There will be with face painting, lawn games, bike blender smoothies, and a silent auction filled with goodies from local businesses. Adult tickets are $22 and can be bought here.
