#JHThanksYou

Amidst this frighteningly uncertain time, it is a wonder to see people come together for a common goal. We have been so impressed by the actions of our community members and businesses to think beyond themselves by prioritizing social distancing measures. These actions will save lives, no doubt, but are a hard hit to local businesses.

We would never minimize the effects that Covid-19 has had on a variety of people, but as diners that are passionate about the Jackson Hole restaurant scene, we wants to do everything in our powers to help them through this difficult time. And we think you do too! Earlier this week, we compiled a list of local businesses offering dining options through delivery or takeout. This is the easiest way to keep stimulating the business of your favorite dining spots. But there are additional ways to help.

Think of it as a cycle of giving back. If you are able, by purchasing a gift card to give as a gift to someone else, you can multiply your support. Whether it’s your grocery store cashier, your small business owner or your local hospital staff, there are people in this community who will have to continue to go to work and do a job that keeps our community functioning while putting themselves at greater risk to exposure. Show your appreciation, today!

To sweeten the deal, some local businesses are running discounts on gift cards. We’re talking free money…to do something good! Persephone and Altitude are both offering 20 percent off gift card purchases. Streetfood at the Stagecoach is selling dining bonds, which function like gift cards. Get 25 percent off these purchases and use them anytime in the next year. At Pinky G’s Pizzeria, any $25 takeout or delivery order is gifted a $5 gift card. That’s how the cycle continues.

And to do our part, Dishing is running a gift card giveaway. Show your support and use the hashtag #JHThanksYou when you’re paying it forward with a gift card, delivery or takeout order. Next week, three random individuals who use the hashtag on their Instagram post or story will receive a free gift card from Dishing at the end of next week (March 27).

Help your favorite Jackson Hole restaurants get through this difficult time to open their doors to the public once again.

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
