Their sloshies’ helped us beat the heat all summer and now Jackson Hole Still Works is serving up another season of speciality cocktails, this time, they will keep you warm all winter.
The team has been making some amazing hot cocktails that will blow your mind. The pumpkin cocktail taste like a bite of pumpkin pie, there is an adult hot chocolate of sorts, and a super creamy, full bodied and delicious beverage made from our milled corn. Heather [a Still Works mixologist] has the whole winter lineup dialed out. She is the brainiac behind making these hot cocktails.
Travis Goodman, owner/partner of JH Still Works

For the past three months, Heather Stuart, the new event coordinator at JH Still Works, has been mastering the recipes and flavors of new, hot winter cocktails.
One of Stuart’s first flavors was, Dem Apples, a perfect fall drink, made with apple cider, cardamom, lemon juice, orange bitters and Still Work’s vodka. Next, Stuart added infused beverages to the list, starting with the Great Pumpkin. A pumpkin spice and clove mixture was infused with the homemade vodka for days, before adding pumpkin puree, lemon, and almond milk, to create a rich, creamy, liquid pumpkin pie with a boozy finish. But, the biggest hit so far, has been the Ginger Chai Toddy. Stuart’s version of this classic Indian chai beverage is made by steeping cinnamon, cloves, and ginger, just to name a few, for up to two hours until the spicy chai flavors are released. Combined with Great Gray Gin, it has become a Jackson favorite.

I’ve been having a great time making these cocktails. I’m naturally a creative human being. I enjoy flavors. I love to cook. I’ve worked front of house and back of house in restaurants for years. My background has been in beverages, studying wine, studying booze, for years. These guys are making booze and I’m over here thinking of different ways to drink them. I’ve been having a great time with the process.

Keep your eyes open and your tastebuds ready for future flavors this winter like Reese’s Pieces, a rich and decadent, hot chocolate and peanut butter combination, made with Still Work’s vodka. The Dawn Patrol, is Stuart’s version of Atole, a think, hearty, maize based hot drink native to Mexico and Central America. The drink is traditionally consumed as a breakfast drink or sipped during cold weather occasions. Stuart uses Still Work’s own milled corn, to make corn milk then adds a touch of vanilla, cinnamon, cream and vodka, and this hearty, boozy, hot and yummy cocktail is a perfect meal replacement or alcoholic beverage.
It’s completely off the wall. I was looking for a hearty, warm beverage and we have corn vodka, so I thought, might as well put two and two together. It has structure to it. It’s pretty rich.

And if hot drinks aren’t your jam, Stuart is also working on creative new flavors for the sloshie lover in you. This Thanksgiving, the Drunk Uncle, made with Great Gray Gin, has all the flavors of the season, with cranberry, orange, lime, cinnamon, and allspice. And the Mexican chocolate cake, made with Still Work’s vodka, is a cold, rich chocolatey drink with a cayenne kick.
There is so much more to play with in the kitchen that bartenders forget about. We’re just having fun playing with ingredients and flavors that are different and fun. We are trying to get people to think outside the box.
