If you’re looking for a great sandwich, with the added bonus of escaping the traffic in town, then head to Chippy’s Kitchen in Wilson for her bacon tomato caprese with kale pesto.
Layered in between an e.leaven whole grain roll, owner and chef Chippy Sherman said this is quickly becoming one of her more popular offerings. It’s served with a salad on the side (only if you dine there, so don’t try take out).
She serves food at her Wilson outpost from 11:30 a.m. to 5 or 6 p.m. (depending on the crowd) daily. Go on a sunny day and sit at one of the shaded picnic tables outside.
In addition to this delicious sammie, Chippy has several other offerings that rotate with the week. She often fashions sandwiches or other dishes based on what she ordered for catering jobs. Last week, we had a pulled pork slider (the pork had been slow cooked only in root beer). But you could find yourself ordering a steak sandwich, or a coffee barbecue glazed chicken.
With a menu that changes frequently, you can eat here three or four times a week and always get something different.
