Elevating its already exceptional dining experience, Kampai has recently expanded its dining space to include the rooftop at 175 Center Street in downtown Jackson. The auxiliary space was much anticipated as an option for pairing National Elk Refuge and Snow King Mountain views with your meal.
About the space, General Manager Dan “Jiggy” Janjigian shared, “This project has been a labor of love, with our architects, designers and contractors working throughout the winter and spring to create a one-of-a-kind hybrid dining space downtown.”

With the same attention to detail that patrons have come to expect from Kampai’s menu, the restaurant has unveiled two distinct spaces on the rooftop, each designed to cater to different preferences. In the first, guests are invited to savor a top-tier meal under a mountain sky on the outdoor patio, which is accentuated by teak wood floors, gardens, shade and heating elements. Alternatively, a 25-seat dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows facing east presents an immersive indoor space that offers protection from the elements.
“When you step onto the rooftop, you will feel transported. Though the views of Cache Creek drainage and the Sleeping Indian in the Gros Ventre will be familiar, we want people to feel like they are in a truly unique space,” said Kampai’s management.

Kampai combines traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern twist, all while providing bespoke hospitality in a holistically relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant procures premium ingredients from renowned fishmongers and farmers, both locally and internationally. At the helm of its kitchen is chef Chris Massad of San Francisco’s Akiko’s, Pabu and Nobu, who has combined precision and presentation in every dish conceptualized for Kampai’s menus. Because the rooftop has a customized kitchen, guests can enjoy a collection of Kampair’s signatture hot and cold dishes in the space.
Weather permitting, the rooftop area is open to guests Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. through October. Closures may be implemented in certain conditions in order to prioritize the comfort of diners. After all, at Kampai, they “believe that true culinary excellence lies in the details. Every aspect of our restaurant, from the meticulous preparation of our dishes, to the custom made sake cups and hand selected art, to the warm and inviting ambiance, is carefully curated to create an extraordinary dining experience for our guests.”

The rooftop at Kampai is a welcome new asset to the Jackson Hole restaurant scene and is sure to provide guests with an exceptional and unique environment that offers an unforgettable meal. Make reservations at kampaijh.com
