Can’t Beat Breakfast Burritos

Today, we pay homage to the grab-and-go breakfast burrito. Like the snow that fell last month, there is no shortage of burritos in Jackson. They’re perfectly transportable and an efficient source of fuel for a day in the outdoors (or a satisfying hangover cure).

E.leaven: at E.leaven, it’s tough to decide between the breakfast burrito or chorizo breakfast tacos, but we don’t think you’ll regret either choice. The burrito is no baby, stuffed with scrambled eggs, black beans, cheddar cheese, potatoes, green peppers and onion. If corn tortillas are your preferred wrap, then maybe you’ll go with the tacos: three corn tortillas with scrambled eggs, chorizo, tomato, feta cheese and avocado.

Swing in for a tortilla stuffed with hatch green chiles, bacon, eggs, cheddar cheese, pico, potatoes and avocado tomatillo sauce. With this one, the secret is definitely in the sauce!

Mangy Moose Cafe: tucked beneath the Mangy Moose, what’s a more convenient pre-ski fuel-up than at the Mangy Moose? Whether you’re an early riser or late sleeper, they have a breakfast burrito worth waking up for from 7-11:30 a.m., daily. With three scrambled eggs, hash browns, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and house-made salsa squeezed into a flour tortilla, you can add sausage or chorizo if you’re feeling extra ambitious. chorizo breakfast burrito

Rations: Poised to be conveniently located for a morning or day of pass laps, Rations at Basecamp is beckoning you from the base of Teton Pass, in Wilson. So many breakfast burritos, so little time. There are three to choose from here. The chorizo version combines it with egg, cheddar cheese, salsa roja and hash browns. Bacon lovers will prefer the bacon burrito with scrambled eggs, hash browns, cheddar, smoked bacon and salsa. But wait, there’s more! For something truly unique, try their vegan breakfast burrito. Cauliflower walnut “meat” is combined with sweet potatoes, hash browns, re-fried black beans and finished with a chipotle cashew “cream.”

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
