A Night Out in Teton Valley

I just moved from Jackson to Victor and was in a desperate need for a girls night out. I called up my friend and we decided to head to Forage Bistro and Lounge in Driggs. It is one of her favorite restuarants and had just been bought by new owners, so we had to check it out. Forage is a cozy and modern restaurant with an exposed kitchen and bar and a great hip atmosphere. The floor to ceiling windows looking over the patio make the 30-person restaurant look welcoming and add a warmth to the overall feel.

FullSizeRenderWe started off dinner with local Cinder wine from the Snake River Valley. That accompanied our delicious appetizers of bacon and parsnip sticks with a stilton dipping sauce and our mushroom, artichoke and kale ragout. The ragout is served with a fried egg and adds a great unique flavor.

For our main course I indulged in a dry rub strip loin steak with parsnip cheese fries while my friend had the black rice risotto with lobster. The parsnip cheese fries were a great alternative to potato wedges and had a nice light flavor.

While we ate our dinner we had a chance to speak with the new owner, Christian Hanley, who purchased Forage in January with his wife, Lisa. We chatted about the ideas Christian had for the restaurant and the upcoming events they were planning. In the summer the patio will be open which will provide a great outdoor dining experience. Lunch is now being served from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and offers a wide variety of options for diners. Need something to do to get through your hump day? Forage is now offering Wine Down Wednesday’s where all bottles are half-off, all day!

IMG_7169We finished off the night with a sweet chocolate truffle and whipped cream. Forage is a refreshing place for a night out in Teton Valley and is worth the drive from Jackson. Head here to après after skiing Grand Targhee or simply for a great night out.

Forage is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Mollie Flaherty

Mollie is a native Cape Codder who learned at an early age how to put a lobster to sleep, harvest cranberries, and dig for clams. After high school she followed her sense of adventure out west to the University of Wyoming where she graduated with marketing and communication degrees. She found herself making roots in Jackson, her fiance’s hometown, and using her sales skills combined with her love of anything delicious to join the Dishing sales team. She loves baking from scratch, large glasses of red wine, and hiking with her heeler, Newton. She’ll try anything, but remains a stuck up Cape Codder when it comes to seafood. If she didn’t catch it or see it come off the boat, don’t even try tempting her.
