Shin Shin Presents an Elevated Sushi Experience

Decadent, daring and delicious: Shin Shin has quickly made a name for itself in Jackson Hole as a premiere sushi experience. Nestled within Caldera House, at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village, the restaurant offers a refined and elevated dining destination for sushi aficionados and gastronomes alike.

Upon arrival, visitors will appreciate the way in which the intimate setting accentuates the ambiance. Minimalist Scandinavian furnishings pervade, with contemporary accent pieces and antiques. A hanging screen by Kawasaki Sudare, crafted in Kyoto, adds texture and privacy to the space. Ultimately, the most coveted seats are front and center at the sushi bar, where patrons may peek into the preparations of the restaurant’s fresh and immaculate sushi offerings.

Beyond the restaurant’s elegant atmosphere, exceptional fare abounds, with each dish indicative of the chefs’ attention to detail. From the culinary mind of head sushi chef Josh Neiman, Shin Shin presents a range of traditional and contemporary sushi dishes, including maki, futomaki, nigiri, sake and sashimi, all crafted with impeccably selected and artfully prepared ingredients, ensuring the highest quality final plating.

For his part, Neiman has brought to Shin Shin his vast experience working in traditional sushi restaurants—from Sushi Tama in Los Angeles to Nakazawa in both New York City and Aspen. Above all, Neiman’s focus on quality fish and ingredients, as well as inventive preparations, are evident throughout. Clean, simple flavors allow the fish of Japan’s Toyosu Fish Market (which arrives next day) to truly shine.

At Shin Shin, each dish is crafted with the utmost precision and passion, elevating taste buds to new realms of delight. Standout favorites include the cold smoked yellowtail served with green chile-yuzu, sesame seed and chives, as well as the milk bread toast (you’d be hard-pressed to pick just one of the three variations). To compliment each dish, consider Shin Shin’s creative cocktail menu, which incorporates Japanese gins, whiskeys and a variety of sakes.

Immaculate service, paired with understated elegance, caters to your every need, ensuring that your palate’s journey through the menu is nothing short of extraordinary.

Caldera House, an eight-suite luxury hotel and alpine club in Teton Village, offers ancillary dining experiences to compliment Shin Shin. These include Corsa, which hosts classic Italian cuisine, as well as Southcable Café—a more casual haunt that’s ideal for a quick bite. Shin Shin is open Wednesday through Saturday, for dinner from 5 – 9 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made on Resy or by calling (307) 201–5358.

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
