Take the Kids Out

Traveling with kids can be tough. Throw going out to dinner in the mix and it can be down right terrifying sometimes. As a mother of two energetic little boys I often find it hard to imagine dinner out. But, I have found that if you find the right spot, the experience can be very enjoyable for everyone.

Here in Jackson we have an abundance of family friendly options for parents with kids of all ages.

For those with little or big kids (tween or teen), Moe’s Original BBQ would be the perfect spot. New to town, Moe’s offers some great southern soul style BBQ with a relaxed atmosphere that is friendly and inviting. They have darts, foosball and a shuffle board to keep your party entertained for as long as you want to stay and play.

Sidewinders has an entire room set a part from the rest where kids can be free to be kids and not disturb the others. It is a mini arcade full of games for all ages. Pair that with an insane abundance of TV’s for all your sports watching needs and yummy food and it is sure to not disappoint the local or traveling family.

If you are looking for a great pizza night check out Pizzeria Caldera on the Town Sq. They have a nice open space up above the street where you can hang out on the deck and watch the world below, or book a pizza making party and throw your own pie and let the kids become part of the process. Whether it is for a big family dinner or a Birthday party it is sure to entertain.

Summer is coming and the grass is drying out which means it is almost time to hit up the Q Roadhouse or Calico and the open field between them where any given night there are 50 kids playing. With and ample supply of frisbees, balls, hula-hoops and friends your kids will be entertained for hours on end while you can sit and watch from the patio or deck and enjoy some time with your other half.

For food with an amazing view this summer visit Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. After a day of adventures and family fun take the gondola up to 9095′ and enjoy the deck, food and the sunset.  Opening back up on June 10th this is a must do this summer with your family. They are open daily from 9am-9pm, with free evening rides for apres and dinner starting at 5 pm.

About Author

From Park City, to Tahoe, to Jackson I found myself floating like a snowflake from one ski town to the next. But once I arrived in Jackson in 2006 I knew that this was home. Growing up ski racing and traveling the world, from a young age I learned to love all sorts of food and at least try everything once. I loved being in the kitchen with my mom and grandmother when I was home, and got my kitchen work ethic from them. Some of my favorite dishes I often refer to as “the kitchen sink”, everything from the fridge, no recipe, just winging it and throwing in what moves me. Now I spend most of my time chasing my husband and two little boys around the mountains we call home. We love digging in the dirt, cruising through the farmers markets and cooking outside. My house and kitchen are always open and often filled with laughter from family and friends.
