Life in Jackson is pretty sweet, so says the cups at Mursell’s Sweet Shop. And it just got a little sweeter. The downtown candy store has opened a new soda fountain.
Manager Sarah Choate Nicholson was inspired to add the soda fountain to the store in part by her family’s business in Idaho, which is a drive-in/diner with a soda fountain called Choate’s Family Diner. She and owner John Frechette have been testing drinks and perfecting recipes since they opened the shop a year ago.
The soda options use quality ingredients, as well as real fruits and juices, to create just sweet enough drinks. The Black Bison, in Frechette’s words, “tastes like a liquid Tootsie Pop” and the Cherry Limeade (below right), are two favorites from the menu. I was partial to the Happy Camper (pictured left) which has root beer, half and half and a marshmallow floater. I will also be back for the 307, which can be lightened up with Diet Coke, cranberry and fresh lime juice.
Plain sodas are just $2.50 and the specialty drinks are $3.50. All come in logo-ed 20-ounce cups and with compostable straws!
