Summer Desserts

Summertime means you don’t have to follow the rules. Sleeping in, eating two lunches, and trading dessert for dinner are all acceptable behaviors when in the midst of summer. Because we love summer so much, and this rain has us starting to think about fall, we want to keep sharing the best summer treats in hopes it sticks around a little longer.

These mouthwatering desserts will make you want to cling onto summer that much longer.

chaiteacakeThe Indian has been a hit since opening its doors a few months ago. We love ending our meal of vegetable samosas and duck mango curry with their chai tea cake. It’s the perfect blend of subtle spice and smooth tea flavors, and the buttercream frosting adds just the right amount of savory complements to round out this dessert. A tip: Order it while you’re still enjoying dinner, because they sell out quick!

peachpieIf you are in the mood to enjoy a summery dessert, Cafe Genevieve’s peach pie is the perfect choice. Made with fresh peaches and a cornmeal crust, this is a palate pleaser, to say the least. Cafe Genevieve is known for their take on Southern dishes, and they don’t disappoint with this southern dessert. The best part about it is the sweet tea creme fraiche.

We love how the Rusty Parrot Lodge’s Wild Sage is always coming up with new and innovative ways to present the best food possible. Their frozen key lime chiboust is a unique twist on a key lime pie. To start, a lime marmalade is created by cooking down key limes, sugar, honey and a little bit of cinnamon. To follow, a frozen soufflé that’s molded, actitated, then smoothed out. It’s topped with a creamy, swiss meringue. chiboust

Make sure to try all these delicious desserts and many more from each restaurants’ summer menu. They are here for only a short time before they’re swapped with the warm, hearty desserts for winter.

Born and raised in south Georgia, Casey moved to Colorado after graduating college and has now settled in Jackson, where she loves to snowboard, hike and water-ski. She's a true southern food junkie, but loves every type of food (there's nothing she won't eat) and will try anything once. A lifelong love of food combined with a Journalism degree made her realize she could combine her two passions which led her to the position of Editorial Assistant. She loves hot sauce and anything pickled, and you'll always find her on the hunt for the perfect Bloody Mary.
