Liberty Burger Joins the Blended Burger Project

Jackson’s very own Liberty Burger has joined The Blended Burger Project. In its fifth year, the annual competition is put on by the James Beard Foundation and the Mushroom Council. Order their contending burger for the month of July and you’ll support Liberty Burger in their quest for glory, as well as a local nonprofit. liberty burger

The James Beard Foundation strives to uphold a commitment to good food, saying, “Good food is more than just delicious, good food also means a better food world, one that is diverse, sustainable, equitable, and accessible for all.” Part of this advocacy for a better food world is programs like the Blended Burger Project. This project encourages chefs to create a healthier, more sustainable burger without sacrificing taste. By crafting blended burger patties that contain at least 25 percent fresh mushrooms, the movement strives to make the iconic burger even better for consumers and for the planet.

For the competition, Liberty Burger has created a burger called Show Me the Shoyu. The American bison patty is blended with sauteed mushrooms and topped with a Shoyu glaze, butter lettuce, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms and basil garlic aioli. This tasty, blended burger is $14, certainly making it the lowest priced Bison burger in Jackson.liberty burger

Order Liberty Burger’s Show Me the Shoyu burger during the month of July, and $1 from each burger will be donated to local non-profit Carving the Future. If you think Liberty Burger has achieved its quest to create a great tasting burger with less meat, but no lack of flavor, vote for them in the Blended Burger Project.

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
