How To Beat the Off Season Blues

Did you stay in Jackson for the off season? While you ogle at your friends’ tropical Instagram pictures, remember that there are still plenty of great things to do during this off season right here in Jackson. So while we wait for the river to warm up, the trails to dry up, and our gardens to start up why not beat the off season blues with some great offerings from different places around town. Dishing tested out 10 things to do to beat your off season blues besides enjoying the two for one deals all around town.

1. After beating your body up on the slopes this winter, give Stevie a call at Bliss Bodywork for a 60 minute massage.

2. Did you just get your tax return back? We know you are supposed to save that money but why not go on a shopping spree at Habits, Terra, or Bootlegger? You know you need to update that spring and summer wardrobe.FullSizeRender (11)

3. Wanting to tone up a bit before the summer season? Sign up for a class at Core Pilates and get bathing suit ready.

4. Interested in trying a new work out? Melt away the strains of the winter with Fisher Fitness’ Melt class.

5. How long has it been since you updated your home? Stop into Willow Creek and chat with Colleen or Lacey about updating an entire room. Or pick up some fun items from Twenty Two Home to update your space.

6. Have a wall that needs something fun? If you still have posters hanging from college it is time to update the decor. Head into Altamira and find a unique piece of art to add some flair to your living space.altamira

7. Clean out those closets! It is time for some spring cleaning and probably time to get rid of some of your kiddos old clothes. Backcountry Baby is now taking consignments and also has some great options for new clothes.

8. The elk are still out on the elk refuge and the trails around town are starting to dry up. Grab a burrito from DOG and head out into the wilderness on a great morning hike. It’s a great way to start your day and explore Jackson before it gets too crowded.

9. Why not learn something new or learn more about an area that interests you at the Center for the Arts? The Center has some great upcoming classes that are sure to be fun and educational. Take your pup with you to one of their Canine Good Citizen classes on Tuesdays from April 26 to May 24.10390912_10203209790386024_2197031151739522133_n

10. When was the last time you went to the National Museum of Wildlife Art? Wyoming Grasslands: Photographs by Michael Berman and William Sutton is currently on display at the museum and feature “diverse images covering everything from prairie grasslands and meadows to sagebrush-steppe and foothill grasslands. They depict dramatic skies, cows on range land, derelict structures, river valleys, fence lines, hayfields, and more.” The exhibit is here until May 8 so don’t miss out.

Mollie Flaherty

Mollie is a native Cape Codder who learned at an early age how to put a lobster to sleep, harvest cranberries, and dig for clams. After high school she followed her sense of adventure out west to the University of Wyoming where she graduated with marketing and communication degrees. She found herself making roots in Jackson, her fiance’s hometown, and using her sales skills combined with her love of anything delicious to join the Dishing sales team. She loves baking from scratch, large glasses of red wine, and hiking with her heeler, Newton. She’ll try anything, but remains a stuck up Cape Codder when it comes to seafood. If she didn’t catch it or see it come off the boat, don’t even try tempting her.
