On Tuesday, Jackson residents will have a rare opportunity to learn Asian cooking skills from a master. Cookbook author and Asian culinary expert Helen Chen will be teaching the basics of steaming, stir-frying, chopping, sauces and spices.
Put on by Belle Cose, the class will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. For $70, participants will watch the demonstration and learn how to use a bamboo steamer and cook with heart-healthy oils.
Everyone will get to enjoy the food, have an opportunity to meet Chen and ask questions after the demonstration. She will share cooking tips and culinary secrets, as well as entertain the crowd with personal stories as she shares her cultural background.
Chen conducts culinary tours of Boston’s Chinatown and is a frequent guest chef at cooking schools around the U.S. She is the author of “Helen Chen’s Chinese Home Cooking,” “Peking Cuisine, Helen’s Asian Kitchen: Easy Chinese Stir-Fries” and “Helen’s Asian Kitchen: Easy Asian Noodles.”
This class is sold out, sorry!
