Trio is a downtown favorite. The atmosphere is hip, lively and inviting, like dining in a corner bistro in any big city. And the food? Some of the best in Jackson. Start dinner with a specialty cocktail, like the blood orange margarita. Then prepare to be impressed by chefs/owners Will Bradof and Paul Wireman, who pack the restaurant nightly with crowds seeking innovative dishes like the prosciutto and watermelon salad. The well-edited wine selection shows that Bradof and Wireman are just as good with their pairings as they are with their food. Reservations are a must, but if you find yourself without one, try to score a seat at the bar, a favorite spot for splitting a pizza, arugula salad and a bottle of Spanish red wine. There, you’re close enough to watch the action in the open kitchen.

The Rose is a destination, learned of our collective past, here in the present, with an eye toward our evolving future. Initially founded as a cocktail bar at the hands of Dave Kaplan and Alex Day, of Proprietor’s LLC (Death & Co., The Walker Inn) we focus on the nuance and detail of each drink. All cocktails are fashioned with fresh, hand made ingredients with a rotating seasonal menu of draft beer and selected wines.

January 2018 brought the addition of a food experience back to The Rose with Late Night Eats. An eclectic fast casual menu served from 8 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. Tuesday – Saturday with grab and go sandwiches available on evenings with entertainment. Curated with locally sourced ingredients by Chef Tim Conan formerly of Sidecar (Brooklyn, NY) and Snake River Grill (Jackson, WY). The menu is delicious, affordable and low maintenance, because good food is good food no matter what time you eat it.

After a day out enjoying Jackson’s activities, head to Pizzeria Caldera for authentic Napoletana-style pizza. Its scenic second-floor location overlooks the Town Square and is the perfect spot to enjoy a pint of locally brewed beer, a glass of Italian wine or a select cocktail. The pizza starts with daily-made dough, perfected by owner Chris Hansen after years of experimenting with baking bread. Baked in a gas-fired, stone-hearth oven, the pies attain perfection: a crispy, thin crust with a chewy crumb, San Marzano tomato sauce and toppings in traditional and unique combinations. Give the Pera Cipolle a try: mozzarella, caramelized onions, Anjou pear, applewood-smoked bacon, gorgonzola and a drizzle of balsamic reduction at the end. Be sure to explore other areas of the menu, from salads and small plates to pastas and paninis, like the Napoli, with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and vine-ripe tomatoes.

Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, Kim Degman first brought authentic Korean food to Jackson in 2011 with Kim’s Corner, which served up traditional Korean dishes, with some more common options like burgers, BLTs and fries sprinkled in the mix, until 2018. Now, Kim’s Corner has been reincarnated on West Broadway as Bapp, meaning “rice” or “a meal.” The bright space combines a pleasing array of colors and textures to complement homemade food that boasts fresh flavors and tantalizing textures. From light lunch options to filling dinner plates, these dishes incorporate traditional Korean spices and sauces, offering a unique dining experience to those unfamiliar with the cuisine. Satisfying while being nourishing or just a tad spicy, there’s something for the whole family on the menu at Bapp.

Entering its 30th year of business in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the New York City Sub Shop, owned and operated by Bruce Tlougan, has consistently served delicious sandwiches since its founding in 1985. Originally located on Glenwood Street, in a small 110 square foot storefront, this sub shop could only fit three customers inside at a time. You frequently had to stand outside (even in a snowstorm!) to get your sub passed through a small pick-up window. It was strictly a take-out business. Bruce’s mission was to deliver to his customers a top quality product and quick service for an affordable price. In 2000, the sub shop moved down the road to 20 North Jackson Street, in the former Daylight Donuts building. This present location offers plenty of indoor seating and easy parking. Over the years, artist Greta Gretzinger has painted murals on every square inch of wall space, resulting in a colorful and whimsical journey of the sub shop over 30+ years. Bruce’s hard work and simple design led to a successful foundation to build upon as he expanded his horizons further west to Oregon.
