Cocktails Keeping It Local

The spring shoulder season is a season for locals, when the residents of the valley get to appreciate a break from the hustle and bustle of busier times. Restaurants celebrate this by enticing locals in with competing off-season specials, all of which we detailed in last week’s post. Because some of these specials provide cheaper drink prices, we wanted to encourage you to sip away at craft cocktails that incorporate local spirits.

The creativity behind the seasonal cocktail list at Gather is far more impressive than my own imagination. However, on a occasion, I was looking for something a little more classic. Currently offering two-for-one dinner entrees, toast to Wyoming with their Old-Fashioned, which utilizes Wyoming Whiskey in the classic combination of demerara, bitters, orange and lemon. So whether you’re stepping outside the box, or keeping with tradition, Gather delivers on the cocktail front. ww

Glorietta Trattoria

Similarly, Glorietta is keeping the craft cocktail competition strong in Jackson with their own variety of seasonal cocktails. They’ve definitely established themselves as experts in the field. In the Heavyweights category of their current cocktail list, you’ll find the Monterosa Negroni. This cocktail combines Jackson Hole Stillworks’ Great Grey Gin, Carpano Antica, Campari, Braulio Amaro Alpino and Clear Creek Douglas Fir Eau de Vie. Closing April 15, get in to Glorietta to try it at the bar, where from 5-6 p.m. you can enjoy half-off cocktails, house wine and draft beer Monday-Friday.

Rendezvous Bistro

Rendezvous Bistro, a classic in itself, gets extra points on this list for combining two local liquors: in their Lyon Vesper you’ll sip down Stillworks’ vodka and gin, mixed with Salers and lemon. Until May 12, when you buy one entrée at Rendezvous Bistro, you get the second for just $2, with that $2 going to a local nonprofit. The Bistro is open during the spring Tuesday-Saturday at 5:30 p.m.great grey

Silver Dollar Bar & Grill

You may have noticed a pattern to this tune, with many of these cocktails utilizing local spirits from Jackson Hole Stillworks. They may have a monopoly in the local clear liquor department. At the Silver Dollar Bar, while you’re stopping in for their two-for-one dinner entrees or the Flip Ya for Lunch special, try the Highwater Gimlet. This cocktail contains Stillworks’ Highwater vodka, St. Germain and fresh lime juice. It’s shaken and served up or on the rocks. highwater vodka

Trio reopens from a short break today, and they’re serving up two-for-one entrees as well. For whiskey with a twist, try their Bad Apple: featuring Wyoming Whiskey’s Outryder, lemon, green apple and mulled syrup. They describe this whiskey’s mouthfeel as “cinnamon spice with creamy butterscotch pudding.” With the other flavors in this cocktail, it’s neither harsh nor sickly sweet.

White Buffalo Club

Grand Teton vodka comes into the picture with the White Buffalo Club’s Under the Tuscan Sun. Mixed with rosemary, olive oil and tonic, this cocktail has subtle flavors and is quite refreshing. Hurry in for 20 percent off your entire bill through April 13, then they’ll close their doors for a short break until May 9.
