Burgers on Burgers

In the first issue of our magazine, we highlighted some delicious burgers around town in the story “Beloved Burgers.” That was almost three years ago, and man how things have changed in the burger world.

There are so many variations of burgers these days. Some people may go crazy with toppings and condiments, while other focus just solely on the meat. But, one thing is for sure: The best burgers are the ones with locally sourced meats, and Jackson restaurants are experts in that departments.

From crazy toppings to unique sauces to buns of all shapes and sizes, Jackson has the perfect burger for everyone. Here are some of the beloved burgers we love to chow down on.

The most recent spot to flock to for a juicy burger is Liberty Burger. Opened by Blue Collar Restaurant Group earlier this spring, their menu consists of so many types of burgers, accompanied with a toppings for the picky and adventurous alike.  The Libertine is their take on a turkey burger, with fun and healthy toppings. This all white, all natural ground turkey is served up with wild arugula, avocado, tomato, onion and marinated cucumbers on a cracked wheat bun smothered with their house-made Liberty mustard. This burger is a great choice for those looking to satisfy a craving but keeping the health aspect in check. And for only $8.50, it’s healthy for your wallet, too.

The second burger we encourage you to get your hands on is the veggie burger at The Four Seasons’ The Handle Bar. Accompanied with arugula pesto, a carrot fennel salad, and Banyuls vinegar, this is another great,

healthy alternative for a burger. Even if you are a meat lover, you need to try this. The different flavor profiles deliver in perfect harmony, and guarantee satisfaction and satiation. Enjoy it with french fries, and you are guaranteed to have a great day after devouring this great lunch.

The bison burger at the Mangy Moose is also a must-have. Locally sourced bison is sandwiched between two slices of homemade potato bun, adorned with the standard,  but delicious, toppings of smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion and a pickle. The best part is the sauce, oh the sauce. It’s called their special sauce and is the perfect glue that holds all the juicy pieces together. We’re not exactly sure what is in the sauce, but we know it’s mayonnaise based, and it’s addicting. What really makes this a perfect plate is the heaping amount of truffle fries that come with the burger. Yes, you will leave full.

Receiving the silver award for best burger in Jackson Hole is the Chef’s Burger at Local. This burger, served on their dinner menu,  is a 28 day dry-aged beef, served with cheddar, bacon, lettuce, house mayonnaise, pickles, and Local fries. It’s the perfect burger choice for those foodies aiming to give all the attention to the meat itself. With few toppings to overpower the dry-aged beef, but enough to perfectly compliment it, we can see why this burger came in second place. If you’ve had a few beers, and can’t wait until dinner, try any one of Local’s custom built burgers, found on the bar menu. Their signature flat-top burger can be ordered as a single, double, or triple with an impressive lists of toppings including six different types of cheeses, fried eggs, tasso ham, and foie gras if you are really in the mood to throw your taste buds for a loop.

Those are just some of the newest amazing burgers Jackson has to offer. Yes, it was near-impossible to narrow down a burger list to five, but we are confident that after eating these burgers, you will leave full and happy, two key components of any meal. And eating burgers are just plain fun. Happy eating!
