April Fools’ Challenge | Test Your Local Foodie Knowledge

Today marks April Fools’ Day, a day honored by practical jokes and playtime antics (see for yourself at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s annual Gaper Day celebration today). To celebrate, Dishing has come up with an April Fools’ Day challenge. How well do you know your local establishments? In the information below, there are five inaccuracies. These errors may be slight or obvious, but it’s up to you to find them…

We recently welcomed Roadhouse Pub & Eatery to Town Square, offering a variety of pub-inspired cuisine to be washed down by their craft brews. The beautifully remodeled space is only the most recent development in the every-expanding Fine Dining Restaurant Group. Now encompassing five restaurants, a catering company, specialty grocer/bottle shop, craft sausage company and artisan ice cream brand, FDRG opened their first restaurant, Il Villaggio Osteria, in 2001. Each menu is carefully curated to incorporate seasonal flavors and ingredients, and each atmosphere is wholly unique. Today, the fried chicken food truck returns to Bodega, a sure sign of springtime.

April Fools error: Fine Dining Restaurant Group’s first restaurant was Rendezvous Bistro, not Il Villaggio Osteria.

Jackson is home to more than one restaurant group, however. The Blue Collar Restaurant Group encompasses Sidewinders, The Merry Piglet’s, Bubba’s, Noodle Kitchen and Liberty Burger. Each offering their own unique specialties and ambiance, did you know Sidewinders has a location to our north? That’s right, there is a Sidewinders located in Missoula, Montana. Today, the Jackson restaurants close for a short break before we head into springtime. They will reopen on Friday, April 5.

April Fools error: the second Sidewinders is in Bozeman, not Missoula.

Tucked away on Glenwood Street, Glorietta Trattoria oozes class, from their creative cocktails to their upscale Italian fare and atmosphere. This winter, they unrolled a cocktail class series that gifted some of that flare to attendees. There were six classes in total, each with their own theme. These intimate courses were wildly popular, and quickly sold out. We hope that their success means there will be another round in the future. But until then, we can at least enjoy the fabulous cocktail creations during the return of their happy hour, dubbed “Apres-tivo.” Monday-Friday from 5-6 p.m., enjoy half-off cocktails, house wine and draft beer when seated at the bar. Hurry in, they close for a short break April 14.

April Fools error: Glorietta held five cocktail classes, not six.

There is an upcoming opportunity to learn about a certain kind of spirit: tequila, at Hatch Taqueria & Tequilas. Hatch has partnered with Casa Noble Tequila to offer a tequila dinner on April 15. This four-course meal will pair modern Mexican cuisine favorites with Casa Noble tequila. This event is $89 per person, not including tax and gratuity. Email manager@hatchjh.com to make your reservations. Today marks the start of Hatch’s off-season specials. Get the full rundown of off-season specials on Wednesday’s blog, but we’re always excited for taco Tuesdays at Hatch: tacos are just $3! It’s a great way to try a variety of Hatch’s tacos. Currently, they offer seven varieties on the menu: salmon asado, camaron, al pastor, chicken tinga, carne asada, seared yellowfin, smoked pork and grilled portobello.

April Fools error: Hatch has eight varieties of tacos, not seven.

Snake River Brewing turns 24 this spring, and they are hosting a party to celebrate. Started in 1994, the Brew Pub will host a 90s themed birthday bash on Saturday, April 13. Tram Jam plays this event from 1-6 p.m., with Grnd Cnyn spinning the tunes from 9 p.m. on. Enter to win some incredible raffle prizes, including a Yeti cooler, Salsa Jorneyman Sora 650 from Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, Hala Atcha 86 SUP with collapsible paddle from Rendezvous River Sports and more! Buy a beer at the pub today through April 12 to gain entry into the raffle.

April Fools error: Snake River Brewing is turning 25, not 24.

Did you find them all? Point out the five inaccuracies by messaging us on Facebook, Instagram or emailing samantha@dishingjh.com. A winner will be chosen at random from those who have correctly identified the five errors and receive a gift card to a local restaurant.
