Apres of the Week: Catching a Coffee Buzz

Coffee art at Persephone

For better or worse, the most popular beverage of choice for apres revelers comes in 16-ounce cans sporting either a large R or PBR on the side. While catching a beer buzz when your done skiing is fine, it often leads to the inevitable tiredness that comes from a long day on the slopes coupled with a few watered down beers, not a great combo when you have a night shift or are looking to avoid the couch. Don’t worry, there are plenty of energizing apres option that will keep you on your feet. Wether its stopping in for a cup of joe before the working the dinner rush, brewing something for your thermos to be enjoyed on the hill, or winding down with a coffee spiked cocktail at a swanky bar, we’ve got you covered.

Like any self respecting food-centric town, Jackson has its fair share of great coffee shops open throughout the day to grab a quick cup after hitting the slopes. Persephone Bakery is any instagramers dream. Boasting a thoughtfully designed interior space, a cozy patio, gourmet food, and of course, great coffee.

Cowboy Coffee takes their foam seriously

While a cup of joe might sound like a good idea after skiing, there is something that just feels like its missing if there isn’t a splash of something stronger in it. Spur, at the Teton Mountain Lodge has one of the best apres atmospheres in the village. If you are looking to satisfy your coffee craving and tackle a cocktail at the same time try their aptly named Insomnia, a White Russian toped off with a shot of espresso. Be sure to stop in from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, to take advantage of their great apres happy hour. Their Kentucky Breakfast features Snake River Roasting nitro brewed coffee, Four Roses Bourbon, and chili chocolate bitters, and they are open until 6 p.m. nightly. Lotus Cafe also has a creative take on a typical hot cocktail. Their Las Lenas is a mix of fernet, espresso, candied coconut simple syrup and hemp milk. It is best enjoyed during their apres friendly happy hour from 4:30 to 5:30 where you can take advantage of all their cocktails for 1/2 price.
