Après skiing doesn’t have to be limited to the confines of Teton Village. There is a whole wide world of after skiing eats and drinks that cater to the in town crowd. Maybe you packed it up early at the village or just got done ripping Snow King, either way, if you find yourself around Town Square when the lifts are closed, fear not. There are plenty of viable options to quell even even the most voracious of après cravings. Few are better at filling your belly with good food, and even better beer, than Thai Me Up.
If you are looking to hang out with people still in ski boots and wearing beacons, this isn’t your spot. Not to say that the majority of the bar wasn’t doing pass laps today, just that comfortable footwear and less sweaty base layers are more of the norm. Nothing says you earned your turns more than a beer, and Thai Me Up has to be the perfect spot with their award winning Melvin Brewing options. Thanks to their new Alpine facility, they have a full list of their own beer on tap, up to 20 on rotating brews for your pleasure. The food also needs little introduction as their Thai influenced brew pub fare is satisfying and flavorful enough to provide the perfect end to a hard day.
While all this is well and good, when concerning yourself with the likes of après fare, deals are an important part of the occasion. You will want to grab a spot in the bar between 5 to 6 p.m. (10 to 11 p.m. as well) to fully take advantage of what TMU has to offer. Perhaps you were obsessed (like myself) with their killer burger before, if you haven’t been there recently chances are you are unfamiliar with their burger-centric happy hour menu sure to inspire hunger. In addition to their staple Melvin burger, they now offer five additional creations all worthy of a post skiing feast. My new favorite has to be the Rodeo Burger served with onion rings, thick fried bacon, and barbecue sauce. You can also sub in tempura green beans or a salad if their crispy fries seem too decadent for you. If smaller bites are your thing, their amazing chicken wings, (served thai style with Sambal) potstickers, and shishito peppers are also on happy hour. As far as drink deals go, ask about their $3 pints of the day. They rotate often and feature a couple different Melvin choices.
If you still are on the fence about in town apres you should first reconsider, and second at least come out for 2×4 day. On Feb. 4, enjoy Melvin Brewing’s award winning 2×4 for just, you guessed it, $2.40. With so many beers and now food deals to match, it is hard to deny Thai Me Up a place on your après skiing radar.
