And Wyoming’s Best Burger Is…

I tend not to pay attention to “best of” lists. Lots of times they are a scheme to sell some extra ads and make the publisher some extra dough. And really, how do they decide who is the best chef or the best lunch under $5 or whatever.

But, I love a good burger, and when I saw a headline that said “These are the Best Burgers in Every State,” I clicked. Turns out, Wyoming’s best burger can be found at The Bird. Says the post:

The Bird is a laid-back bar and restaurant in Jackson that grinds all of its meat in-house. Its burgers come on English muffins, and guests are strongly encouraged to order medium rare to get the full flavor. You can have fun ordering the “dirty @*&%” which comes with bacon, a fried egg, American cheese, and pickled beets.

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, we’re going to give away a small prize to one lucky reader. Simply leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite burger is in Jackson Hole, where you can find it and why you like it. We will pick someone at random Tuesday.

Also originally from the South, Cara Rank discovered cooking was a creative outlet that helped her relax after long days writing magazine and newspaper articles during the past eight years in Jackson. Really, she just missed Southern food. A lot. During a 12-year career as a journalist, Cara has won numerous awards for her work and has written about everything from rodeo queens to Dolly Parton tomatoes. She spends her weekends making jars of pickles and jam and amazing dinners for friends. She loves shishito peppers, Chicago-style hot dogs and elderflower-spiked cocktails.
