Jackson’s own Chad Taylor from Zinc Bar at the Amangani has won Wyoming Whiskey’s 2nd Annual Bartender Shootout. The state championship was held in Jackson at The Rose this past weekend, and Taylor came away victorious, being titled Wyoming’s burliest, surliest and best bartender. You can find the recipe to his winning cocktail, 22 Boulevard, below. Taylor won some awesome prizes, including $2,500 cash prize, a pair of Blizzard Skis and the coveted Wyoming Whiskey Bartender Shootout championship belt buckle.

PourThe Rose hosted the state finals, which featured finalists from the four regional competitions held throughout Wyoming in November. The 11 finalists had to prove their cocktails were the best, in front of an all-star judging panel including legendary Chicago mixologist Johnny Costello, Dave Kaplan from Death and Co. in NYC, and the 2014 Shootout champion, Jesse Brown.

Two of the top three finishers are right here in Jackson, which means we can go and try award-winning drinks from these bartenders locally. Laura Keeler from The Rose came in second with her Little Horse Theif cocktail featuring Wyoming Whiskey, Barspoon maple syrup, Drambuie, Laphroaig, and mint leaves. Congratulations to all the finalists and a huge congrats to Taylor and Keeler for proudly representing Jackson.

Mollie Flaherty

Mollie is a native Cape Codder who learned at an early age how to put a lobster to sleep, harvest cranberries, and dig for clams. After high school she followed her sense of adventure out west to the University of Wyoming where she graduated with marketing and communication degrees. She found herself making roots in Jackson, her fiance’s hometown, and using her sales skills combined with her love of anything delicious to join the Dishing sales team. She loves baking from scratch, large glasses of red wine, and hiking with her heeler, Newton. She’ll try anything, but remains a stuck up Cape Codder when it comes to seafood. If she didn’t catch it or see it come off the boat, don’t even try tempting her.
