A Few Good Reasons to Try Eleanor’s…Again

This dish, along with many others, at Eleanor's Again is gluten free.

This dish, along with many others, at Eleanor’s Again is gluten free.

My favorite places to eat as a gluten free foodie are ones that have a menu that tells you exactly which items are gluten free. The entire menu at Eleanor’s…Again is marked GF for gluten free or GFP, meaning gluten free is possible. When ordering you just need to let the server know. I have never come across a menu like this at a bar before, it was a pleasant surprise! It’s nice to know what is safe to eat without having to interrogate the server.

I have enjoyed everything that I’ve tried at Eleanor’s; the nachos, the chicken wings and the French fries. But my favorite thing to order are the pork wings. They are basically a pork shank, cut like mini ribs. I love classic wings, but with the pork wings you get more meat with less work because there is only one bone in the center. There are six sauce flavors to choose from, but the honey chili garlic is my personal favorite.

Eleanor’s offer appetizers, soups, salads, entrées and sandwiches. Three entrées are gluten free or gluten free possible. They do not carry gluten free bread, so sandwiches are not available gluten free unless ordered without the bun.

Unfortunately there is no gluten free beer on Elenor’s menu, but they do carry Woodchuck brand hard cider. They also have a 2-for-1 happy hour every day. This covers all other allergy friendly drinks and beer from 5 to 7 p.m. everyday.

This bar is perfect for football games. There is a TV in almost every direction you look, which makes is convenient for watching games with friends. I also love that Eleanor’s is a little hidden, and not in the mainstream so there is a great local vibe.

Gluten Free

Both classic wings and pork wings are listed as GF, no matter what sauce you add. The street tacos, as well as multiple salads, are automatically served without traces of gluten; however, you can order the nachos, elk steak and flat iron steak with shrimp if you let the server know that you are gluten free.

Dairy Free

A New York strip steak, fish and chips, pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, wings, fries and salads are all listed on the menu as dairy free. Other items can be ordered without cheese. No lactose-free cheese is available.

Vegetarian

There is no veggie burger available at this bar. But there are other options, such nachos, a great mac and cheese, a wide selection of salads and many appetizers like fries. There are other options if you want to customize your meal sans meat, such as lasagna, burritos, quesadillas or a sub sandwich.

Nut Free

The only item on the menu that contains nuts is the California salad that has almonds and pecans; however, it can be ordered without them. There is a basket of shelled peanuts placed on each table, and many shells end up on the floor. For some with extreme allergies, this may affect your dining choice.
